I know too many PR luvvies called Freya.

ChristmassyCullenHasMySanta · 05/12/2008 13:39

Was very popular about 6 years ago but not used all that often now. I like it

Pinkchampagne · 05/12/2008 13:44

It's ok. There are quite a few of them about though.

Dragonbrandybutter · 05/12/2008 13:44

i liked it until my friend told me about the lingerie, and i kind of went off it.
i like Frey (might be a boys name)

belgo · 05/12/2008 13:45

Frey can be short for Frederick.

I've always liked the name Freya, it's becoming more popular.

OrmIrian · 05/12/2008 13:46

Thanks so much everyone - we never realised it would be so difficult to find a name - some great alternative suggestions!

Donna Air's daughter is called Freya.

It is a lovely name, but fgs Donna Air chose it, that would be a NO in my book!!

There are loads of them round here now, I am not so keen. I am surprised you have so many yes's. Sorry but it isn't for me. I don't think it is awful though or anything

babymt · 06/12/2008 10:50

There are loads in my area too. I reckon its going to become the Tracy or Kylie of the 00's. Sorry!

babymt · 06/12/2008 10:51

P.S. No offence to Kylies or Tracys

mrsout · 06/12/2008 13:27

Freya is my sisters name. She has just married. Her new sirname is Cardy. Work it out!

littleboyblue · 06/12/2008 13:28

I love it, was one f the top 3 for girls names for us, but we're having anther boy

TheNewsMongersGeansaiNollag · 06/12/2008 14:37

It is pretty but has become too popular too quickly, which would make me worry about how it might be perceived in the future.

Adult freyas will be unaffected.

RunningGirl · 06/12/2008 19:40

We have a Freya, partly chosen as my husband is swedish. I love it, think it's pretty and strong and we've had loads of compliments on it. We don't actually know any others (she's 4)although I've come across a couple in the park etc. Maybe it's just hopeful thinking but I can't see it becoming like Tracey or Kylie as it's a really old name, albeit from a different culture, that's become popular here, rather than a 'new' name that's just been made up and so specifically of this age.

Ronaldinhio · 06/12/2008 19:41

lovely, lovely name

blametheparents · 06/12/2008 19:45

Love it, love it, love it!
(And yes, I do have a DD called Freya!)

And that would be 'everyone and THEIR dog' custardo (just piking on anyone who does not like the name Freya )

blametheparents · 06/12/2008 19:47

picking, obv , esp since I picked on custardo for spelling!
