Any thoughts on this name for a girl?

I really like it and is on my list if this baby is a girl

(Lockets - How do you pronounce Thea?)

ChubbyDickAndSnowBalls · 06/12/2008 19:59

I love it. It is my number one name for a girl.

georgimama · 06/12/2008 20:02

Love it. Would be Freya, Fleur or Flora if we ever have a daughter.

Thanks Lockets. Never knew if it was Thay-a, Tia or Thee-a

Cies · 06/12/2008 20:24

ummmm, I'm a bit "meh" about it. Sorry.

nooka · 06/12/2008 20:40

Doesn't really do anything for me - I like names which lend themselves to variations more. Not sure whether if you are called Freya there are any diminutives?

Fillyjonk · 07/12/2008 07:35

I wouldn't worry about it becoming the kylie or tracey of the future

freya is only at about number 25.

Am a bit if anyone thinks it is a new name. It is a VERY old name. It is where Friday comes from (freya's day). It is where mistletoe comes from (kind of ). Importantly, it is a brand of chocolate in Norway, iirc.

yes it will date a child. First, names go in and out of fashion. Sophie and Zoe scream 90s to me. Ellie and Chloe are early 2000s What, really, is the point of theses "timeless" names?

Have NO idea why its become so popular though! It has always been a good solid lentil weaver name. Where has it come from?

SuperSillyus · 07/12/2008 07:49

I think it is a really lovely name.

SparkyFartDust · 07/12/2008 08:11

tis pretty but also strong iykwim- fits well on little girl and on full grown woman. I like it

Kath1975 · 07/12/2008 13:20

Don't like it but that is purely because the school bully was called Freya. She had a habit of picking her spots as well. Unsurprisingly, it put me off the name for life, but can see it is a pretty name with nice origins.
Pheonix, my DD also called Thea but we pronounce it Thay-ah, so I guess you can pronounce it however you like! Our GP still insists on calling her Tee-ah...

StephanieByng · 07/12/2008 13:44

I like it but i think you have to be careful, it sounds mismatched with many surnames IMO.

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 07/12/2008 14:17

I like it.

I had a guinea pig called Freya.

Anna8888 · 07/12/2008 14:20

Too popular. Not fantastically pretty or feminine. I wouldn't bother.
