God no.

Really no.

Have some experience.

bleurgh · 13/10/2008 16:32

ignore Madonna she plainly has a jaundiced view

it's superb

MrsMattie · 13/10/2008 16:33

Horrid.

This 'old fashioned names' trend is starting to get silly.

TheFallenMadonna · 13/10/2008 16:33

I do indeed have a very jaundiced view

pagwatch · 13/10/2008 16:34

Ahhhh
remind me of the gorgeous little boy in the World according to Garp who was scared of the under toad.
But he dies when the car he is in plows into another car in which his mother is giving one of her pupils a blow job...
So perhaps not the best connection?

wheresthehamster · 13/10/2008 16:35

Yuk

Agree with MrsM

wonderstuff · 13/10/2008 16:36

Love it, we considered it as is a family name.
only reservation I had was Walter the softie in the beano......

bleurgh · 13/10/2008 16:38

you are all out of your minds

they don't know what they're talking about neerly

pag's right about the film though
very weird movie

Neeerly3 · 13/10/2008 16:39

Hector?

bleurgh · 13/10/2008 16:39

nigel's not out of her mind, very sensible person there

LouMacca · 13/10/2008 16:40

Walter the Softy springs to mind. Sorry but its awful.

Edward and Arthur both sweet. How about George, Charles, Henry, Bertie??

Neeerly3 · 13/10/2008 16:47

lou, they all on my list, but heard walter on weekend and thought "oooo, now you don't hear that often, i like that and i like Walt", but had my reservations (as i did about Arthur initially, but by god it suits him now)

I like the name, but DH says the nickname will be Wally!

frazzledoldbag34 · 13/10/2008 16:59

I quite like it, and I think it goes well with Edward and Arthur. How lovely to have 3 boys!

LouMacca · 13/10/2008 17:00

Tbh i don't think Walter sounds in the same vein as Edward & Arthur iykwim.

Sorry, don't want to hurt your feelings but I think I would laugh if someone told me their sweet little baby was called Walter.

Although just noticed you've mentioned Hector. Which I absolutely love by the way, and also goes well with your other 2.

Or what about Alfred (Alfie)
or George
or Henry
or Stanley
or Rufus

bleurgh · 13/10/2008 17:27

Wilf is getting a bit common now.

(sour grapes because we wanted Wilf and I drippily said no)

its such a drippy name.

EdwardCullenCanHaveMysoul · 13/10/2008 18:26

(Total off point warning...)
I used to live down the road from a business called Walter Wall Carpet Fitters .

As for the name, sorry, I wouldn't. It brings to mind drippy boys a la The Beano.

blinks · 13/10/2008 18:31

sidney? hector? oldies but a tad less bogging

Hadassah · 13/10/2008 18:32

Walter is a nice name IMO.
