Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I really like Edward and Arthur but it's a big fat NO to Walter.

Wilf is cool.

Gregory
Stanley
Benedict
Wilbur

My friend has just called her baby Walter and he is Wattie for short. She also knows a 30 year old Wattie who is the godfather.

I was surprised when she said the name but I'm used to it now.

catweazle · 13/10/2008 18:43

My 80 year old FIL is called Walter and hates it so much he has always been known by a nickname.

expatinscotland · 13/10/2008 18:45

NO.

how about Archie?

BabyBaby123 · 13/10/2008 18:46

sorry it's awful imo

TheSmallClanger · 14/10/2008 11:31

It hasn't aged well. He'll end up as Wally at school.

I did have a very lovely uncle Walter, but the name sounded old-fashioned even on a WWII veteran.

georgiemum · 14/10/2008 11:34

Wally? Please don't

DaphneMoon · 14/10/2008 11:46

Awful, think of the child instead of what is in fashion. That poor child has to grow up with that name and it's not even a nice old fashioned name. Even when it was fashionable about a hundred years ago it was not a nice name.

hereorthere · 14/10/2008 11:48

Only if you want him being beaten up by someone called Dennis.

I often read the baby names threads but have never before been inclined to type, until now....

Please god, nononono to Walter.
I dont even think its 'baby cute' , never mind when the baby is a grown up twenty something in a bar, looking suave and has to admit his name is Walter..... That is a convesation stopper, and not in a good way!

...so that's a no from me then!

purpleduck · 14/10/2008 12:03

lol hereorthere!!
Although I think Dennis is too much of a twerp to do the beating up. Dennis would get
Arnold to do it. Or Oswald

Bubbaluv · 14/10/2008 12:05

Makes me think of Walter Matau or "where's Wally". No one wants to be a Wally.
And Blinks, Hector just makes me think of "hector protector" which could be v problematic for a boy I would imagine?

DaphneMoon · 14/10/2008 12:38

You are so right Tobermory, you really have to think of the child grown up as well as a cute little baby. I think I could seriously not have gone out with a boy if he said he was called Walter. I would have been far too embarrassed to tell my friends.

Sidge · 14/10/2008 12:43

It's awful. Sorry.

Walter is just not an attractive name.
