I love the name Freya for my 4th girl, due very soon. It's popular in my area but my extended family in the Manchester area seem to never have heard of it and all of them laughed at it. Opinions needed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/10/2008 10:46

nice name but very popular here (down South)

sannie · 07/10/2008 10:48

pretty

youmaynotlikethis · 07/10/2008 10:48

too common imo

Shitehawk · 07/10/2008 10:52

I love the name, and would have given it to my daughter if dh hadn't thought it was a bit too off the wall (he's a very conservative-with-a-small-c man).

It's not hugely common around here - one child in the infants school I work at has the name, there are none in the junior school.

ForeverOptimistic · 07/10/2008 11:07

I know loads, it is very pretty though.

suwoohoohoooooooo · 07/10/2008 11:14

Funny, you should say about Manchester, I live in North Manchester and I know 5!

newpup · 07/10/2008 11:27

Lovely name, very pretty. It is very popular here in the south west.

LunarSea · 07/10/2008 11:44

Like it, but very popular at the moment.

eilidhfi · 07/10/2008 11:47

I love it, DD was almost Freya. Don't think it's particularly common here although not unheard of iyswim.

usuallylurking · 07/10/2008 14:52

I love it but there are far too many around here - I think it will turn into the new Tracey in a few years.

lovemybuggy · 07/10/2008 15:27

Love it-im oop north and know of one who is v sweet.

ForeverOptimistic · 07/10/2008 15:37

I don't think it is the new Tracey. I would say that it is more of an up to date Melissa or Tara.

wotulookinat · 07/10/2008 15:40

I think it's a lovely name.

preggersplayspop · 07/10/2008 15:43

Love it. Very pretty without being too sickly sweet, if you know what I mean.

ScottishMummy · 07/10/2008 15:48

popular+++ i know 5 wee freya's

Liffey · 07/10/2008 17:53

It's hugely popular in certain circles I think. I like it. BUT I think I prefer Frieda!

Amy78 · 07/10/2008 20:29

I love it - one of my BF is called Freya - quite unusual for a 30 year old

dinkymum · 07/10/2008 22:39

Love it, suits any age and any kind of person.

BirdyArms · 07/10/2008 22:42

Like it. I don't know any, obviously not mving in the right cirles. All Isobellas and Olivias round here.

Piffle · 07/10/2008 22:45

I like it
One in oct02 ante natal and one at dds school
Both gorgeous girls, feisty, assured lasses

Ewe · 07/10/2008 22:49

3 (!) at my DDs nursery, think it's a lovely name though

ScottishMummy · 08/10/2008 00:18

freya, poppy, ellie all +++ popular at nursery

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 08/10/2008 09:23

Pretty name. There were lots around here when dd was born (two in a baby yoga class of about 8, for example) but I haven't met any younger girls with the name.
