Can't decide! Really like Abby, not s sure on Abigail DH really likes it. Think I like Elizabeth - has many shortening options. What do you think?

I like both of these names. I probably prefer Elizabeth.

Lizzie is cute as a baby, Liz as an adult and Elizabeth when wanting to sound posh!

I was tempted to use Elizabeth for DD.

babyOcho · 06/10/2008 19:22

Elizabeth

LucyJones · 06/10/2008 19:22

Elizabeth
Because I like Lizzie, Beth but not Betty
Not keen on Abby or Abbie or Gail

tartetatin · 06/10/2008 19:22

They are both classics - you can't go wrong with either.

CarGirl · 06/10/2008 19:23

I have one of each! But Elizabeth has a different nickname to any mentioned so far as does Abigail..........

babyOcho · 06/10/2008 19:23

Beth is nice.

nowwearefour · 06/10/2008 19:24

Definitely Abigail for me

Anna8888 · 06/10/2008 19:25

I much prefer Elizabeth to Abigail.

SquiffyHock · 06/10/2008 19:26

Both lovely but I would go for Elizabeth - call her Lizzie and buy her a lovely copy of Pride and Prejudice!!

DeJaVous · 06/10/2008 19:27

Elizabeth

ohdearwhatamess · 06/10/2008 19:32

Elizabeth (shortened to Libby)

barnsleybelle · 06/10/2008 19:43

Both lovely names, but slightly prefer abigail.

slackrunner · 06/10/2008 19:48

Abigail

JellycatShopkeeper · 06/10/2008 19:49

Can't stand Elizabeth.

Abigail much nicer.

chequers · 06/10/2008 19:49

I like Libby.

CarGirl · 06/10/2008 19:54

Buffy is the best nickname, tis Royal.

Plonker · 06/10/2008 23:39

Elizabeth. Beautiful name.

Really dislike Abigail, but it must be the 'gail' bit that i dislike because i think 'Abbie' is a lovely name.

ScareyBitchFeast · 06/10/2008 23:42

prefer elizabeth
lizzy
liz
beth
libby
bet
betty
let

Aliensloveunderpants · 07/10/2008 06:04

I think that's the problem with Abigail for me - the Gail bit. Am in an Elizabeth mood today but you know what it's like when you're pregnant yours mood change with the hour - or at least they do for me

Thanks for all your comments

you've maybe had enough comments but i am a fan of elizabeth (perhaps because of my rl name) and have been quite happy as a Libby since I was about 7 - thought about using Elizabeth as I got older (and strangely I did in the hospital when having ds), but Libby seemed to just suit me more - but that what i love about elizabeth - so many different shortened choices.

livvyliv · 07/10/2008 21:28

I know a girl who was called Lilybet

Hi

I am in the same boat as really love Abbie/Abby but dont really like Abigail.
I also really love Libby but not really Elizabeth.
It is nice to put the full proper name on the birth cert but you dont have to use it.

Piccalilli2 · 09/10/2008 10:56

love them both, my dd is abigail elizabeth, would have called dd2 elizabeth if we hadn't already used it.

lastboxoftampons · 09/10/2008 12:17

Another vote for Elizabeth - I used to name all of my dolls that when I was little But I never liked Liz or Lizzie - always was Beth. Could always use Liza as a nickname!
