She's having Rose as a middle name after my mum, but still not sure about first names.

I'm veering towards Claudia (Claw-dia, rather than cloud-ia)

Her dad likes Sophia better

I had Eve, Miranda and Lydia as possibilities, but still not really feeling keen on any. Dd1 is Isabella so something to go with that.

Any other ideas?????

Claudia - I think that's a very cool name

Sophia - very pretty

Lydia - lovely

makes me want a dd!

Plonker · 29/09/2008 22:57

I think Eloise and Isabella go lovely together, although i take thumbwitches point - its doesn't 'flow' exactly with Rose.

Mia is very pretty and not particularly common around these parts, not sure if it is in other areas??

For a 'a' theme, how about:

Sarah
Anna
Clara
Emma
Hannah
Jenna
Olivia
Maia

tripletsandtwins · 29/09/2008 22:57

I like Mia Rose and Claudia Rose.

I have an Elena-Rose

Good luck choosing and congrats on the baby

thumbwitch · 29/09/2008 23:10

facetious - could call her Inominata (Latin for unnamed)
Or perhaps Athene (serious, I like that name)

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 29/09/2008 23:45

Thumbwitch - I believe so. I bought the Amanda Foreman book at the time it came out and remember from the publicity fanfare then that the 'correct' pronunciation there was Geor-jayna. Sounds weird to me, too - possibly an archaic form? - but as far as I know it's an aberration and generally speaking the name should be pronounced as it's written.

chazm3 · 29/09/2008 23:49

what about KARA

kara rose

chazm3 · 29/09/2008 23:55

nappyaddict · 30/09/2008 01:25

good thread on names

fizzpops · 30/09/2008 07:43

Louisa?

1066andallthat · 30/09/2008 08:14

Oh, I really like Melissa Rose but can see Smelly Melly (not good)
and Olivia Rose (popeye connotations)
so, how about Emily Rose (or does that sound like a ship or a scary book)?

I'd forgotten how hard choosing a name is good luck and - let us know.

clairebear88 · 30/09/2008 11:19

Hi

My fave list is below and I also would have Rose as a middle name after my nan ( even though it is very popular )

Abigail
Amy
Lydia
Phoebe
Isabel
Caitlyn

Good luck

artichokes · 30/09/2008 11:22

Anna and Isabella is a sweet combo.

KateF · 30/09/2008 11:33

I would go for Claudia or Lydia. I have an Isabella, Susannah and Philippa (I like "a" names too ). Congratulations btw!

MaryMungo · 30/09/2008 11:39

There is a rather creepy story called "A Rose for Emily".

lastboxoftampons · 30/09/2008 11:53

I like Claudia.

I think Sophia is just too trendy these days. Especially with Isabella.

I like Eve, but not sure how it goes with Rose. What about Eden Rose?

Lydia is pretty and so is Miranda.

I also like Maya Rose.

CountessDracula · 30/09/2008 11:55

dd is Louisa which fulfils your criteria and is not too popular (not been in any top 100 list in last 5 years)

Louisa Rose sounds a bit odd though

goblinvalley · 30/09/2008 13:27

How about

Montana Rose

piratecat · 30/09/2008 13:30

Lydia is lovely, unusual these days.

fizzpops · 30/09/2008 17:23

Carolina
India
Emma

Fimbo · 30/09/2008 17:25

I like Mia and Claudia

HonoriaGlossop · 30/09/2008 17:53

Estella Rose
Amelia Rose
Elizabeth Rose

DeJaVous · 30/09/2008 18:21

Mathilda?
Natasha?

I really like Cordelia too, when I mentioned to my mum that it it had nearly been DDs name she said "ooh, that would have been unfortunate". No idea why. What did your sister say?

TBH Claudia Rose is beautiful and lovely with Isabella too, why not just go for it?

dizzydixies · 30/09/2008 22:52

whats unfortunate about Cordelia?!?

Simplysally · 30/09/2008 23:12

Wasn't Cordelia the rejected daughter in King Lear?
