She's having Rose as a middle name after my mum, but still not sure about first names.

I'm veering towards Claudia (Claw-dia, rather than cloud-ia)

Her dad likes Sophia better

I had Eve, Miranda and Lydia as possibilities, but still not really feeling keen on any. Dd1 is Isabella so something to go with that.

Any other ideas?????

no, she was his only 'good' one!

Simplysally · 30/09/2008 23:30

Regan and Goneril were the other two weren't they?

dizzydixies · 30/09/2008 23:35

lol, Cordelia was the loveable, true, virtuous one in the play

its also Latin meaning 'heart' which I think is lovely
celtic meaning 'of the sea'
welsh for 'jewel of the sea'
irish for strong willed, wise and high desire (lordy help us )

thank you Hatrick!

how did I know you'd be on here lol

Quattrocento · 30/09/2008 23:47

I like Cordelia. And Sarah. Miranda is usually played as a sex-starved nymph

brimfull · 30/09/2008 23:49

just call her Rose

Eva Rose
Olivia Rose

thumbwitch · 01/10/2008 00:51

Hatrick, you never called your DS Caliban??

I was reading an Isobel Wolff novel the other day and discovered that apparently Miranda is a Shakespearean invention - from the Latin for "to admire". Cool huh. I like it. But not with Rose, necessarily.

I think the 3-yllable names with the emphasis on the first syllable scan best with Rose, but that's just a personal preference.

Oh, Cassius, that's fine - my next guess was going to be Shylock

Miranda is a Latin gerundive and its literal meaning is 'she who must be admired'. Likewise, Amanda is 'she who must be loved'.

fanjolina · 01/10/2008 10:06

Serena Rose?

katz · 01/10/2008 10:09

i like the name Annalise (its my youngest's name) and if we ever have a third i'd like to call her Isabella.

rebeccahill · 01/10/2008 12:19

don't worry, our daughter is five and a half weeks and still hasn't got a name! you've got lots of time.

OLIVIASMAMA · 01/10/2008 13:27

Rose is so pretty - don't you like it as a first name?

I have an Olivia which I just love ......slight give away on my profile name!

Congratulations!

nappyaddict · 01/10/2008 15:50

rebecca

what are you calling her then?

wabbit · 01/10/2008 16:00

Tabitha Rose
Athena Rose
Talitha Rose (same name as Tabitha I think but more biblical and less feline)

fizzpops · 01/10/2008 17:02

Oooh I love Tabitha and Athena! These are exactly the sort of names I would suggest to DH and get a quizzical look in reply.

Poolio · 01/10/2008 17:21

Amelie-Rose
Instead of Emily

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 01/10/2008 18:52

splishsplosh · 02/10/2008 19:42

Haven't had a chance to MN for a bit. Well when we went to singing at the library they were having a youngest baby to join competition, nd she needed a name to join, so I went with Claudia Rose. I'm still not entirely certain, and there are lots of names on here I like too, but I think it's probaby the one.

About Cordelia, my sister just went "oh, you wouldn't, would you?" in a horrified voice, but I like it.

Thanks for all your suggestions
