Finn or Felix?

Is Felix too consciously middle-class? I like the fact that Finn doesn't belong to a particular class and will worry that pople think i'm trying to impress by using a typically middle-class name like Felix? I am aware that Felix is the more unusual of the two but I don't think that popularity bothers me as i've loved both names for a long long time. Surname is Atkinson so they both go well.

Just after some opinions on them really.

TIA

Arthur is smashing. DH vetoed! Plus a neighbour has one so it wouldn't feel right.

Another painfully middle class person here with a Finlay lol. We did consider just Finn which is equally nice! That said, I am rather liking Felix so I can feel your pain!

Felix makes a fantastic name choice. I get the impression you prefer it slightly over Finn. No need to worry about what others think of the class connotations - you've loved the name for a very long time anyway, so why not go for it. The name Felix is also on the rise in the popularity steaks, so he won't be the only little Felix out there! Also, as someone else mentioned, Felix is a good strong name that will sound great in adulthood too. Good luck with your decision making process.

Love Felix, DS3 was so nearly a Felix but couldn't persuade DH! He (DS3) ended up as an Arthur instead! DH has promised me if we ever have a fourth he can be called Felix but not likely to have anymore even to use such a fab name. Good luck

Finn/Finlay/Finley are much too popular to be middle class - I think they are quite the opposite (a bit common, not in the popular sense), faddy and will date. Even "chavvy" from the ones I have met at the school I teach at!

Felix on the other hand is in quite a different league and it is a bit middle class but nice still.

Finn ftw!

graffiti · 01/10/2008 14:24

We have (for now) decided on Finn (although he'll obviously turn out to be a yob with a terrible name like that).

TheWoodWithinTheWall - you've only made a few posts yourself.

TheWoodWithinTheWall · 01/10/2008 14:26

I see that you've already been outed.
Shame on you.

harrietanderson · 01/10/2008 14:31

Woodwithinthewall - because I prefer Felix to Finn?
I have not been outed, my account is genuine and I've reported your post.
What did you name change from then or are you just new?

roid · 01/10/2008 14:37

I know exactly who 'harrietanderson' is. She frequents on BabyCentre and is a pathetic trouble maker.
