Makes me think of the character in ER

Lauriefairycake · 26/08/2008 19:31

I like it, I think Freud (obviously) and the tasty curly-haired surgeon in ER

Lauriefairycake · 26/08/2008 19:31

ooooh, x-posted with another ER fan!

IllegallyBrunette · 26/08/2008 19:32

biglips · 26/08/2008 19:38

I really like it. It's the name of the bookish one in 'The Cramp Twins' cartoon.

Friend has a son called Lucian. Cool name.

collision · 26/08/2008 23:40

I prefer luca or lucas tbh.

lastboxoftampons · 27/08/2008 10:04

I'm not a huge fan, but it was my grandfather's name. He was always called Lou, which probably doesn't work as well in the UK...

QuintessentialShadow · 27/08/2008 10:05

My youngest has Lucien as middle name.

loobylu3 · 27/08/2008 10:13

I really like it too!

LadyThompson · 27/08/2008 11:34

It's nice. I think Lucien has the edge over Lucian. It's the French version (Napoleon's brother, fact fans).

There's the sculptor Lucian Freud, but against that you have the lugubrious, rabbit obsessed son in The Liver Birds. But I expect no one will remember that. Otherwise I think Lucian was an Ancient Greek writer?

morningpaper · 27/08/2008 11:36

I know a Lucien

He is very very lovely

I think it's a great name

MamaG · 27/08/2008 11:37

I like it.

(Hatrick - how are you and baby doing? )

QuintessentialShadow · 27/08/2008 12:32

You have Lucan the roman poet who was a nephew of Seneca, and you have Lucian the Syrian-Greek satirist and rhetoric, also known for being the first science fiction writer, with his accounts of extra terrestrial life.
There are also quite a few roman poets by name Lucius.

FabioTheFlouncingCat · 27/08/2008 12:35

I really like it.

It can be Lu-see-en/an
or
Looshan
or
combo of both.

LadyThompson · 27/08/2008 12:49

Ha ha. Thanks Quinty.

MrsMattie · 27/08/2008 13:02

Hate it. Makes me think of Lucifer!

Plus it's in the Crispin, Quentin 'posh, drippy bloke' category of names for me

QuintessentialShadow · 27/08/2008 13:09

well mrsmattie, you have to bear in mind that Lucifer was the angel of LIGHT, before the fall. In a way you can compare him to DarthVader. He wasnt always bad....

Botbot · 27/08/2008 13:12

I know one. In his late 30s. He's all right. Never gets shortened though - he is Lucian and nothing else.
