I have struck upon a rich seam indeed.

Struggling to find the perfect name for your daughter?

Torn between traditional or unusual?

Tearing your hair out on the mn baby name threads?

Use the Eddie Sobart Method.

Get in car.

Drive on motorway.

Come alongside Eddie Stobart lorry.

Read name of lorry on front (R) hand corner (just in front of drivers door, near the bumper).

There you go.

You cannot back out when you have seen your name. The method is all about chance and living on the edge.

For those of you who do not drive, or are not living in the UK, or do not like motorways, or trucks, I have come up with the variant MN Eddie Stobart Method.

Helpful mners will post on this here thread the name they have just spotted on their most recent journey.

To get the ball rolling I give you

Shona

I am STILL looking out for an Eddie Stobart truck from where to draw inspiration for my DC3 (potentially DD3!) - why do I never see one, why, why, why [stamps feet and huffs about dramatically].
I may go on a long, pointless journey just to see if I can find one. Maybe the school run isn't the best place?

frazzledoldbag34 · 03/10/2008 19:42

Perhaps I should just go to the butchers and buy a wide selection of his most imaginatively named sausages instead and hope for a boy?

mooki · 04/10/2008 19:45

And 'Libby Summer' yesterday on the M6.

I've gone back to work and am doing lots more driving.

daisy99divine · 07/10/2008 12:07

I think the sausage trick is just too risky - I mean how about Cumberland Ring? Just think of the drama in the playground?!?

Far better to strap your DCs into their car seat and drive for miles and miles up the motorway

You could name your kids and do your bit for the environment all on one go {grin]

I love this idea!!!!!

Caitlyn Jo was spotted as I speeded up behind the old codger in front on the M1 shouting "Get out of the way, mumsnset needs me"

Oh crikey, just seen this thread. Up to about 3 years ago, i was a fully paid up, card carrying member of the Eddie Stobart Club With the £10 membership, you recieved regular newsletters, mechandise catalogue and yes, a handbook of all lorry names. You could tick off your "spot" either in the book or online. Think I was heading towards 100 when I left
It's a Scout thing. Had never heard of Eddie Spotting till I joined the Venture Scouts. A long journey to camp has flown by when you're Eddie spotting.
You can write in and request that your name if used on a lorry. Major "spot" if your name is used and you see it

daisy99divine · 09/10/2008 15:47

please tell me you are joking

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 09/10/2008 19:44

Nope . It was quite a nice membership card too, bit of quality.

I am sad enough to spend 10 minutes looking for a dice to find out that should I ever have a daughter it will be called

Kathryn Michelle i'm not convinced

mooki · 10/10/2008 21:13

Tiffany Eloise today - I saw about 20 of the bloody things on the M6 but that was only one I caught the name of.

stripeybumpsmum · 10/10/2008 22:03

I think Norbert Dentresangle is a beautiful name
