I like that.

Ellen is more fashionable than Helen, so it wouldn't occur to me that the name was Helen if I heard Ellen..

Ellen Rosemary nice too.

edam · 02/08/2008 20:13

And Ellen's a name that has been around for hundreds of years. So don't understand the 'ooh, but it sounds as if you've got Helen wrong' line of argument. Helen's only become popular in this country relatively recently.

LaDiDaDi · 02/08/2008 20:13

Very nice.

belgo · 02/08/2008 20:13

It's fine. Ellen is a nice name.

Nobody says that Anna is Hannah wrong. I prefer Anna to Hannah, I prefer Ellen to Helen. Just my taste though of course.

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 02/08/2008 20:30

oh yes we all[well us here] prefer ellen to helen, but just wondering about confusion

OP posts:
melpomene · 02/08/2008 20:35

StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2008 20:38

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 02/08/2008 20:39

OP posts:
mamabea · 02/08/2008 20:44

like it very much

StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2008 20:44

Well my parents neighbours daughter called her dd that a few years ago. I REALLY like the names but I'm not keen on 'gimmick' iyswim. on the other hand if there's no link with leeds I would like it better - illogical I know!

milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 02/08/2008 20:46

oh ive just been asked to post, what about all the hell and back type jokes?

there must be loads of hell jokes?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 02/08/2008 20:48

I think ellen is quite a common name (common in a good way), haven't heard any of that type of joke

GrapeJelly · 02/08/2008 22:18

Very pretty. You could call her Ellie Rose too

princessglitter · 02/08/2008 22:19

pretty name.

Thinkstoomuch · 02/08/2008 22:22

Love it.

Cezzy · 02/08/2008 22:23

DD is called Eleanor Rose and she prefers the full version rather than Ellie, although we did use this as a baby.

She has also had no problems with spelling it.

We do sometimes use the nickname Els Bels but she doesn't seem to mind.

RusselBrussel · 02/08/2008 22:23

Beautiful
