Hello all... I need some help. My DH and I have settled on calling our ds Legend Cougar or Cougar Legend. Which do you like better?

The only other option we will think of is Xander. Thanks for your help.

Xander.

ghosty · 31/07/2008 08:19

No. Please. No.

ninedragons · 31/07/2008 08:21

There are thousands of lovely names out there. Cougar and Legend are not among them.

LittleMissBliss · 31/07/2008 08:22

Isn't Cougar the name that is given to older women who hunt date younger men?

Legend, boy that's allot to live up to!

newpup · 31/07/2008 08:22

Sorry imo that is awful. Cougar!!! Xander is much better.

Littlefish · 31/07/2008 08:24

Ha ha ha. Not Cougar Legend or Legend Cougar. Awful names in my opinion. In fact, not names at all.

Xander is a million times nicer.

zippitippitoes · 31/07/2008 08:24

they are both awful

cougar was some kind of seventies after shave of dubious desirability

seeker · 31/07/2008 08:26

Or even Alexander - shortened to Xander.

But please - if this is serious (and I doubt if it is) not Cougar. Just imagine being a weedy spotty shorter than everyone else in the class with a voice not broken yet 14 year old called Cougar. Imagine it for 3.5 seconds and call him Alexander. Please.

gagarin · 31/07/2008 08:27

If this is for real - then Xander is the only option.

Read this article - basically says giving children dead unususal/weird names puts them at risk of bullying, ridcule, underachievemnt and stereotyping by others including while at school and on job applications.

www.associatedcontent.com/article/291777/strange_baby_names.html?cat=25

You may not agree - but at least give him a real straightforward middle name so he can choose to change his name later on.

Is this for real?

Babstefani · 31/07/2008 08:27

No, it's not after shave. It's a kind of cat. Don't you think it's fierce?

gagarin · 31/07/2008 08:29

This is def a troll - no one wants a fierce name for their dc!

Babstefani · 31/07/2008 08:30

Ok, I understand your point about bullying, but I think that will make him tougher. Besides I am living in the states (california) and alternative names are REALLY huge. The Legend part is a tribute to my brother-in-law and cougar started as a joke, but just fit nicely.

Babs are you basing your name choices on the type of names that celebs choose?

Tommy · 31/07/2008 08:34

what is wrong with normal names?

misdee · 31/07/2008 08:35

so if alterantive names are huge over there, why not buck the trend and call him something normal.

gagarin · 31/07/2008 08:36

Why do you want him tough? Bullying can destroy as well as strengthen. It is a risk.

Give him Xander and Legend as his middle name

Fanella · 31/07/2008 08:38

You could be really radical and call him something usual.

Go the whole hog and call him John.

Shitehawk · 31/07/2008 08:39

Oh, please ...

LittleMissBliss · 31/07/2008 08:39

John Legend! Think thats taken.

lillypie · 31/07/2008 08:39
Hmm
lillypie · 31/07/2008 08:41

LOL LittleMissBliss

Fanella · 31/07/2008 08:41

Just had to google John Legend. I'm such an old fogey.

PersephoneSnape · 31/07/2008 08:42

you want him tough?! hope you enjoy ballet-momming him to his dance class. you can try to shape children into what you want them to be, but they do have their own personalities and will be happier being who they are, rather than what you want.

cougar is awful. awful and i tend to believe that people should call their children what they want. Xander is fine. everything he signs, is with a kiss.

AllieBongo · 31/07/2008 08:42

so gwen, when is your baby due? what does gavin think?

katiepotatie · 31/07/2008 08:43

Xander
