Gabriel vs Angus; Isabella vs Claudia

Hi everyone - first time poster! Discovered I was pregnant a days ago, and have already started thinking of names. All the other threads talk about things like Mucus Plugs and Ventouse, neither of which I have ever heard of or know what to do with, but I can join in the name games...

I have been thinking of either Gabriel (Gabe) or Angus (Gus) for a boy, and then either Isabella (Bell / Bella) of Claudia for a girl.

What are your favourites, or do you hate all of them. Anyone decided to call their babe's any of these names (trying to work out how popular they are, or will be, in 8 months!)

Hello boobz, welcome aboard and I hope your pregnancy trip is a pleasant one! I like Gabriel but my DP didnt so we went with one of your other options, Joe which we both now adore (I was coming round from a general anasthetic after a section when DP suggested it and I would have agreed to anything to be honest!). I also love Alexandra, if I ever have a little girl she will be Alex, either first name or middle.

I love the name Gabriel but not a big fan of Angus, and like both Claudia and Isabella equally.

Hello everyone! As Boobz's BF and godmother to be, my vote still goes for 'Bag'. Quirky, original and you won't see many Bags running around the playground...

But seriously, - Gabriel and Belle are my favourites.

Gabriel, Anugs too common, here in Scotland anyway. Love Bella for Isabella but also Claudia is fab

I like all your choices - i prefer Gabriel to Angus and Claudia to Isabella which is way, way too popular now.

angus is better (but not keen on either) claudia better. but its your choice after all!!!

I did like Angus till someone asked Angus Deayton on HIGNFY whether it was said with a silent G.

Prefer Claudia of the girls' names.

I have a six year old Gabriel, He's the only one in his school, no one has ever said anything negative about his name to me (well they wouldn't!!). He is very angelic and he likes his name.

Isabella v. v. pretty!!

My husband has the male verion of claudia- his name is Claudemir.
Love Gabriel too.
Isabella is more common now but still lovely.

I have an Isabella! I always loved Isobel but my DH's family have a traditon that the girls name with a A. I had an emergency C-section and when I woke up DH says " Yuo have a lovely daughter - Isabella! I couldn't have cared less at that point if she had been called Myrtle etc etc. I love Claudia too though/ Can't do boy's names...

I really love Gabriel but also have had lots of negative 'Gay Gabe' comments. I wouldn't really cre too much about that but DH not keen, so that is a bit of a stumbling block I think it's a really masculine name myself and lets face it, most names can be turned into silly nicknames if children want to.

I also like Angus. DH against as says it's too Scottish but again I don't have problems with using non English names.

Both girls names are great. Isabella is popular but for a good reason! It's a lovely name! I really like Claudia and if you want a classic sounding name that is less popular, go with that.

(Also like Logan very much, you have such great taste! All names from my list although evil DH has trampled all over my list!)

Husband doesn't like Logan, but likes Joe. Reckon it will be a Joe or Gabriel, but then have still got weeks and weeks to go so no doubt will change my mind.

Claudia is a winner, in my mind.

Gabriel is one of my favorite names.

I also like Isabella.

Angus and mmmmm not keen on either girls name..sorry
