Keziah, Kizzy for short

My cousin is a doctor and she called her daughter Keziah. I was surprised to be honest. I though

SHe told me She was the sister of Jemima and oooh Susanna/?? in the bible. Wish I could remember.

Above post dreadful. I guess what I was trying to say in a roundabout inoffensive way was that I had considered the name a bit chavy but now I'm not sure.

It was the one where she lived with her gran, and the local kids burnt out her caravan, and she had a friend called Clem? Am I right? Didicoy was that the name of it?(goes off to google)

Friends used this name for their daughter last year and when we heard we were in Israel, so my grandmother looked it up in a Hebrew bible which is how I know it is ktz-ee-ah in Hebrew (emphasis on middle syllable)

there is a tz letter in hebrew that has been translated as a z

that gypsy story was a book before it was a TV prgramme, I used to have it, lovely book.

I actually prefer the diminutive form, Kizzy (and also recall the children's programme too) but not sure whether dh will agree..!

25 years ago (!) when I was at school there was a Kizzy a few years younger than me.
I thought it was a lovely name then and still do now - can't get it past DH though.

Can't put finger on why though, as I know it's biblical.

I'm torn - chavvy or classy.. it could go either way..

What about Karenza/Kerenza - it's cornish. I thought it was unusual but not too out there..

It sounds like she may have a runny nose, I really don't know why I visualise that, I think I may have known a Keziah who was really snotty

I know two Kezias.

Neither are in the least bit chavvy, and one mum is heavily involved in the church.

Like it, like Kizzy, even though I remember the book/TV programme about the gipsy girl. My grandfather's cat was Kizzy and she was beautiful, so i guess that's my "Kizzy" associations balanced out.

I like it - recently read the book. I got it for dd, but think she's still a bit young, so decided to read it myself. I loved the series in the '70s.

I think both Keziah & Kizzy are lovely, does that mean I'm horribly common?

One of the women in my antenatal thread has just had a little girl and called her Keziah, wasn't sure at first but it has really grown on me, like it now and Kizzy for short.

I'm actually surprised that so many of you know girls/women who are called Keziah - I have not met a single person with this name and I've lived in the north and the south of UK.

Keziah is not a bad name in itself, but it looks like it has too many pronunciations for my liking. Little Keziah will spend half her life correctling people.
Kizzy is just about okay as a nickname but looks and sounds silly as an actual name.

Yes, all the more reason to choose Kizzy instead!

I'm typing this with my 20 year old cat called Kizzy on my knee.

I know a Kizzy aged about 2, don't think she was named Kezia.
Loved the programme about the gypsy girl and always remember the kind teacher telling the kind old man? that Kizzy needed three of things, one on, on off and one in the wash. Didn't the two kind grown ups shack up together in the end with Kizzy?

TBH I think it sounds very pretty and it was a very great favourite drama series when I was a child, but sadly I think its probably a bit downmarket nowadays - really sorry.
