How many Lila/Lyla/Lilah and even Delilah girls do you know? I wonder, especially with combined spellings, how common it really is?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

One Lyla in my daughter’s year at school. Absolutely lovely as well.

Travellingshoes · 29/09/2026 13:46

One. She‘s a very cute Yorkie. 😁

WarmLilacHiker · 29/09/2026 13:52

None but Lilah is my girl's name if I ever need one (very unlikely)

maggisimpson · 29/09/2026 13:53

Two Delilahs and two Lylas.

There were 634 Lylas born in 2024, 513 Lilahs and 203 Lilas, and 1180 Delilahs - out of 289000 girls born (and 2761 were named Olivia, the most popular name).
That's without all the Lyla-Rose, Lila-Raes etc.
It is one of the most quickly climbing names.

I think there’s one in my DC’s year at school. It just becomes dull if it’s tagged with the overused Rose/May/Grace.

allaboutthelamb · 29/09/2026 14:14

I know one but it’s Lyla

EvilBoss2 · 29/09/2026 14:15

I know one.

Seagulldancing · 29/09/2026 14:15

I know 2 little Lylas.

Tarkan · 29/09/2026 14:22

Two Lilas but pronounced differently. One like Lyla and the other like Leela.

NamingNoNames · 29/09/2026 14:37

I don't like it. It blends in with the Lily, Lola, Lyra, Luna, Layla names.

popcut · 29/09/2026 14:42

one Lilia who goes by Lila

ilikeeggs · 29/09/2026 14:44

I know quite a few all with various spellings

5289843DM · 29/09/2026 14:48

None.
I know 1 baby Lyra and an adult Layla.

MabelAnderson · 29/09/2026 14:58

None. Oh actually I knew one pronounced Leela but she was an old lady.

notanothernamesurely · 29/09/2026 15:00

Two

NannyOf8Girls · 29/09/2026 15:05

Granddaughter Lillia

ChocolateColours86 · 29/09/2026 15:08

I don’t know any personally but I’ve heard a few little girls being called that when out and about, so I’d say it’s fairly popular in my area. I don’t know how they spell it though. I really like it and considered it for my daughter but my husband wasn’t a fan.

SquigglePigs · 29/09/2026 15:09

One 6 year old Delilah
One 3 year old Lyla
One 7 year old Lyla-May

LittleGreenDuck · 29/09/2026 15:46

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/09/2026 16:39

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/09/2026 16:40

Oh yes and 3 Lyra, 2 Luna

maggisimpson · 29/09/2026 16:52

I also know a Laya, Layla and two Lyras 😂

seahorsessky · 29/09/2026 16:55

A few in primary (maybe about 8?) of the first. No Delilahs, but then I haven't met any in real life (or Jezebels!).
A few older Laylas, nearer my age, maybe because of the song?
I very much doubt anyone would pick the Delilah name for the song, but I guess it's better than for the story!

wishfulthinking25 · 29/09/2026 16:58

I know a Lila pronounced ‘lill-a’, a Lila pronounced ‘leela’ and about 7 Lila’s pronounced ‘ly-la’

iloveanearlynight · 29/09/2026 17:07

Lilas? (No apostrophe for plurals.) I don't know any.
