Classic baby girl names to go with Rosa, not too popular

Due baby girl #2 in the next few weeks and we can't settle on a name. With our daughter, we always had a name in mind so this is new territory! Big sister is Rosa. I'd describe our style as quite classic while not wanting something super popular, although I am more concerned about the name's popularity than partner is. We'd prefer a name that doesn't end in "a".

Any preferences from our current shortlist, or names that we've missed and should consider?

Names we have shortlisted:
Evelyn (nn Evie) - my partner's current favourite
Mabel - my current favourite
Hazel
Harriet
Annabel
Zoe

Names that one of us has vetoed:
Isabel/Isabella
Maeve
Florence
Constance
Anya
Nina
Clara
Madeleine
Meredith
Margot
Jasmine

Rosa is lovely. From your shortlist Evie anything has been so popular for so long it doesn’t meet your criteria. Hazel is gaining in popularity too. I like Annabel but that would be Anna daily so again doesn’t meet criteria.
Annie?

In similar vibe. Not too common. Honor, Marianne, Felicity.

DozyCrow · 04/08/2026 06:22

I like Evelyn/Evie, but it's very popular, so might not be what you want. The other one I really like on your list is Harriet.

PermanentTemporary · 04/08/2026 06:24

I like Zoe or Annabel, think they go particularly well with Rosa.

Evie has been mindblowingly popular for a couple of decades but understandably so as it’s lovely.

Out of your list Evelyn - lovely, classic name.
What about:

I love Harriett and Annabelle, I don't know any little ones with these names. I really dislike Zoe I find it harsh. Evelyn, Hazel and Mabel are popular around my way, and I know several little ones with these names.

You’ve got some lovely names both on your shortlist and vetoed list that go beautifully with Rosa- particularly like Mabel, Hazel and Nina.

Some other ideas….

Margot, Maeve, Lara, Beatrix, Zara, Joanie, Tabitha and Emmeline

Ah, Margot is lovely too!!

I think only Annabel from your list fits the criteria. Mabel in second as it is perfect with Rosa but is getting popular. Evie is very overdone.

I really like Eloise/Elise with Rosa, as suggested by PPs.

knutthebrute · 04/08/2026 08:15

Violetta / Violet

DuckWrap · 04/08/2026 09:01

If you don’t want super popular then cross Evelyn/Evie off your list. Every other girl is an Evie. It’s so popular it’s dull.

I like Annabel and Zoe, Infact I only know one child called Zoe.

MinPinSins · 04/08/2026 09:15

What do you define as too popular? Both your and your partner's names are top 20, which I would define as popular!

I really like Evelyn and Annabel. They have a similar feel to Rosa without being on the same flower theme. Harriet is another elegant name, but very different somehow from Rosa. Not sure that really matters though.
I think the names you like are elegant in general and classic. Mabel is a bit different from those, it is sweet on a tiny girl but not as elegant on a grown woman .

plasticplate · 04/08/2026 12:19

I thought Zoe before I saw your list.
Also Amy.
