Is this name too rare to be used?

I'm due in November with a girl, and I've really been liking the name Estée (pronounced ess-tay) after finding out that I had an ancestor called this. It's very simple and pretty to me. I think my DH is starting to come round to it too. Just wondering if I've gone mad.

Yes estee as a name is too cosmetic brand. Estelle is lovely!

I’ve just checked, and it didn’t rank in the top almost 4,000 names of baby girls born in England and Wales in 2025. I’d consider it incredibly rare.

Most people will know how to say it from the makeup brand. I don’t think it’s too unusual to use.

I prefer Esther

Its ok. But it does remind me of the make up brand. Maybe Esther which is nice and Estee for short.

I think its lovely. My first thought was that it was like Esmée, but prettier.

I dont know why so many are being sneery about it also be part if a makeup brand name.
Looking at my dressing table, that would slso rule out Charlotte, Liz, Terry and Laura.

But those names are very common, whereas most people have only heard of one or two Esteés at most.

I love Estelle and Estella (and Esmé). I’d call her one of those and give her Esté as a nickname.

I wish I could find the photo again and prove you wrong, but I saw it at least eight years ago and don’t dare search the combination of words that are most likely to find it. But it was from the days before AI, so likely to be “real” even if staged.

I’d think make up but also think it’s gorgeous and totally useable.

It's a lovely name - yes older people will associate her with the cosmetic brand but her peers at primary won't know it! For me it's Aunt Estee but I doubt kids have read or watched the Testaments

French for Esther, meaning Star. Beautiful name, considering it for my daughter too ❤️

In my accent, Estée sounds more like ezz-teh rather than ess-tay. Esmée also sounds more like ezz-meh rather than ess-may in my accent.

I could never use either name because they sound very unappealing when I say them, but I do love both of them.

It's a great name OP, and there's nothing wrong with sharing your name with a make up brand. People will come to know it as her name, which will dull the make up association.

Love it and was on my list by couldn’t get it past DH. I’ve also seen it spelt Este. If you wanted a longer name could use Esther

No accents! It’s a pain in the arse and she’ll be called Ess-tee not Ess-tay

I didn't think "Lauder" but I suppose a few people will mention that, so depends if that bothers you.

I like it, I’ve met someone called Estée before and didn’t actually realise it was so rare. It’s similar to a lot of the E names which are popular, but also different.

As a rule of thumb-I would avoid any name that means every time you say it in your own culture, several people will respond “I’m sorry-I didn’t catch that….”
