Is Beckham too out there?

Bit of a long shot but how do we feel about Beckham as a first name? Obviously it’s hard to separate from David, Victoria, and all that at this point, but wondering if it’s too loaded or if it still works as a forename?

So you wouldn’t be naming the baby after David?! Everyone would assume you were because it’s not exactly a used name otherwise - it’s the surname of a famous footballer, and likely a surname that most of us wouldn’t have even heard of if not for him.

This is even worse than when people name their son “Lennon”. If you’re such a massive John Lennon fan, call the fucking kid John!!

But at least that’s John Lennon, internationally renowned genius and peace activist who was assassinated, rather than David Beckham (checks notes) the sarong-wearing former footballer who is very much alive and doing adverts for Walker’s crisps.

I wouldn’t say it was particularly out there. There are plenty of celebrity Surname names out there, eg Lennon. Harrison. I would ask though if it was after David Beckham
