Are Rae and Wren too similar for sisters?

Hi, just wondering people's thoughts on if the names Rae and Wren are too similar for siblings? We already have a little girl Rae and think Wren is lovely but I do think they're quite similar. My back up is Fern but I don't love it nearly as much.

RowsOfFlowers · Yesterday 20:19

Oh no, I don’t like either. Sorry 🙈🙈 and yes, definitely way too similar.

pinksquash13 · Yesterday 20:20

I think potentially yes they are too samey. That said, some people like that vibe. I really like Rae and Fern.

Lomonald · Yesterday 20:23

Oh it has a awkward flow I think Rae and Fern is nicer.

Takersgonnatake · Yesterday 20:26

I think Wren is absolutely gorgeous and makes a lovely sibling name to Rae. Very euphonious!

zebrastripesarefun · Yesterday 20:30

I think the names Rae and Wren go beautifully together. The names are very different in my opinion. Congratulations

DancingNotDrowning · Yesterday 20:33

I like both names but they are too similar imo

Blueuggboots · Yesterday 20:34

Yes.

Besidemyselfwithworry · Yesterday 20:35

Love the combo of Rae and Wren
congratulations

i don’t dislike Fern but prefer the R&W combo

BoleynMemories13 · Yesterday 20:35

It comes down to personal taste, rather than being an absolute oh my goodness you can't do that combination.

Although they would have different initials, personally I find two one syllable names beginning with the same sound way too similar for siblings. It's obviously up to you though. Some people love matchy matchy sibling names.

It is a no from me though.

moltopianissimo · Yesterday 20:36

You, your husband and your daughters will spend half your lives checking whether whoever it is has said Rae or Wren if you go with that option.

Spotteddaisy · Yesterday 20:36

I actually know a family with 3 girls, two of whom have those names.

Smartiepants79 · Yesterday 20:41

It’s very samey. I wouldn’t.

stepupp · Yesterday 20:42

I prefer Wren to Fern and prefer Rae and Wren to Rae and Fern. I'd go with Wren.

WeMeetInFairIthilien · Yesterday 20:42

Star Wars fan?

xOlive · Yesterday 20:42

I love both Wren and Fern!
I personally don’t think they “go” together but they don’t sound bad together if that makes sense? Sorry!
A two syllable name would go nicely with Rae, could you then have Wren as a middle name?

Scaryspicer · Yesterday 20:44

Too samey sounding and too obviously Star Wars!

scrivette · Yesterday 20:59

I wouldn’t have thought of Star Wars as I haven’t seen it, so not everyone will.

I like them together, although when you are calling them they do sound similar. I don’t think it would be too much of an issue.

disclaimer - I love matching names!

waltrs55 · Yesterday 21:03

They’re fine IMO. Do you like Dove or Lark?

Scaryspicer · Yesterday 21:04

@scrivette I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, but they’re two of the main characters; so not obscure ones (Rae and Kylo Ren) I think they even kiss but not sure

Oliwiaa · Yesterday 21:05

Too similar, you'll constantly be shouting one when you meant the other.

Glitterbiscuits · Yesterday 21:05

Star Wars and Kitchen. I don’t think they pair well.

MySunnySeal · Yesterday 21:41

@xOlive we have a really long double barrelled last name so my heart is set on another one syllable first name

@Scaryspicer not star wars fans at all, never seen it, just a coincidence although maybe other people picking this up should put me off!

@waltrs55 thank you so much for the suggestions, I'm not so sure, my next choices are Ellen or Rosa, but neither follow the one syllable pattern I was hoping to go with as it sounds nicest with our surname, two words three then two syllables

amandalandmad · Yesterday 21:46

Not keen on wren. I know a little fern and adore it!

waltrs55 · Yesterday 21:46

Ellen and Rosa are both lovely. Sorry to suggest another one but Ellen made me think of Nell / Nelle. Good luck deciding!

Firebird83 · Yesterday 21:48

Rae and Ellen sound good
