Narrowed it down to four names…

There are four names me and my partner agree on for our baby girl due next month…

Hazel
Robyn
Iris
Olive

I’m surprised this is our final list as originally we only wanted unisex / tomboy names like Billie, Frankie, Stevie etc but we couldn’t agree on one as we both know people IRL (or have exes) with all of these names, so I think now we’re going with a timeless nature-inspired name instead.

So I just want opinions as I’m not sure how popular / unpopular our final four are or what connotations they kay have. Any input appreciated.

I would say wait and meet her and keep that list and the others until then.

SwatTheTwit · 30/06/2026 21:01

I like Iris but I know quite a few now so I’d skip it by now.

Love Olive and Robyn but I’d prefer Robin as the spelling.

Neutral about Hazel.

Billie and Frankie are ‘girly’ names in another guise. Frankie isn’t used for boys and the unisex spelling would be Billy.

Robyn spelling (rather than Robin) is ‘girly’ for the same reason.

Olive is marmite: some DC can carry it off.

I dislike the flower Iris but otherwise like the name.

Like Hazel.

Sorry to burst your oh so confident bubble but my grandson aged 8 is Frankie 😂😂😂

RachTheAlpaca · 30/06/2026 21:12

I don't love the spelling of Robyn.
Iris just not to my taste
Hazel and Olive are lovely, Hazel is my favourite :)

Congratulations

Sugargliderwombat · 30/06/2026 21:13

Robin is the original and is actually a boys name if that makes it more favourable!

I loved olive but something about it was a bit too much. I also loved the name Cherry but just couldn't do it.

PancakeCloud · 30/06/2026 21:26

I love love love Olive. Couldn’t use it myself so I’d pick that, but also like your other three names. I think Hazel might be the most timeless.

mathanxiety · 30/06/2026 21:32

Robyn
Hazel
Iris

Olive (a very drab name imo)

EmmaB1309 · 30/06/2026 21:50

I like them all but Robyn is my favourite!

Giraffehaver · 30/06/2026 22:06

I love them all apart from Olive. If I had to pick one it would be Hazel

GreatPinkViper · 30/06/2026 22:11

Robyn is my favourite especially as its a family members name. I like Iris but prefer Ivy

Jellylasagnafortwo · 30/06/2026 22:15

Hazel is my least favourite, it’s really common where I live.

Olive is my favourite.

FredaMountfitchet · 30/06/2026 22:18

Our pup is Olive
Quite like Iris
Hazel was our next door neighbour in the 1970s Mum thought she was a swinger .. I liked her
Robyn is okay
Yes all good choices

Sjh15 · 30/06/2026 22:20

Out of your names it’s Robyn for me!!
Personally really not keen on Iris

I saw your comments on Rowan - I have a friend who’s a Rohan. Maybe a diff spelling might help?

BreatheAndFocus · 30/06/2026 22:21

I like all those names! I think Olive is the most common, and probably Hazel the least common. I’m not sure I could say which I liked best as they’re all lovely, but I’d probably put Olive at the bottom and the other 3 equal top 😀

StormGazing · 30/06/2026 22:22

Robyn or Hazel are my favourites - enjoy your new baby

Doubletroubledoubled · 30/06/2026 22:28

I like them all but my order of preference would be
Robyn as OP wrote it - not Robin
Hazel
Olive
Iris

yellowpinksky · 30/06/2026 22:30
  1. Robyn
  2. Iris
  3. Hazel
  4. Olive
JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 30/06/2026 22:43

Out of the 4 names, I’d choose Iris. Really not keen on any of the others. Olive isn’t pretty at all. It just reminds me of the woman off ‘On the buse’ or Popeyes girlfriend. Both are very plain.

Ooooookay · 30/06/2026 22:44

These are all lovely names. My six year old has friends called Robyn, Olive and Hazel but they are each the only children I have met with those names and I am not sure I know an Iris. My husband and my mum are both quite rude about the name Olive so that’s put me off slightly but all the others I would happily call my child.

NeighbourProblems3 · 30/06/2026 22:49

I vote for Robyn

Katiebaby3009 · 30/06/2026 22:53

Iris would be my favourite out of those and there is a lovely song called Iris. But if you prefer unisex names the surely Robyn would fit the bill? Olive just makes me think of the food which I don’t like!

cluckinell2 · 30/06/2026 22:59

Robyn is the nicest. Strong but pretty. Timeless too. I also like Olive. Not overly keen on the other two.

EconomyClassRockstar · 30/06/2026 23:01

Is Robyn having a moment as I know 2 born over the last year?

Firebird83 · 30/06/2026 23:07

Iris is beautiful. Hazel and Olive are ok. Not keen on Robyn.

Pokingbroccoli · 30/06/2026 23:09

I don't like the Robyn with a y spelling. Much prefer Robin.

I like Iris and Hazel. Not so keen on Olive.
