Name regret again sorry!

Hi have already posted about this not sure where it went! Very Worried I’ve chosen a ridiculous name for my daughter. A previous thread has heightened my anxiety!
Her name is Molly Olive Parker Jones. Am I describing a PARKER as in a jacket?! Help! It’s absorbing a lot of my brain with anxiety! It’s becoming obsessive.

Her name is lovely! You've chosen really well, IMO.

And the jacket is parka, not parker, so I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Sometimes name regret this strong can be a sign of post partum anxiety/ depression, do you think that could be the case?

Oreoqueen87 · Yesterday 20:18

Often when people post name regret on here I think ‘yep, I can see why you feel that way’. This isn’t even remotely in that category, it’s a lovely name and I think Parker brings a bit of freshness to the classic names.

I gently agree with the other poster re obsessing and post partum depression - might be worth a chat to your doctor

SirChenjins · Yesterday 20:20

Don't be daft! 😊It's a middle name so not one she'll hear every day anyway, and the jacket is called a parka which is pronounced differently.

Floppyearedlab · Yesterday 20:22

She’s a Parker pen, not a Parker jacket.

and to most she is just Molly Jones which is a great name

EverydayRoutine · Yesterday 20:25

As PPs have said, the jacket is a parka. I assume Parker is a family name? I have always loved the family connection of my middle name.

I don't care for the repetition of the "ol" sound in Molly Olive, but that is 100% down to personal taste. If you love the way the names sound together, that's all that matters in this case. You haven't chosen some bizarre, outlandish names which would raise eyebrows.

halotweetttt · Yesterday 20:29

oh no sorry it did autocorrect it is parka!!! It’s a family surname we included but now I’m thinking unnecessarily
Does it sound ridiculous?
I definitely think I have some postpartum ocd/anxiety. Thank you for kind responses

ICantStomachWhelks · Yesterday 20:30

Are you saying it auto-corrected to Parker in your post but you are actually spelling it Parka?

halotweetttt · Yesterday 20:34

It’s actually parka
molly olive parka jones

IsItWickedNotToCare · Yesterday 20:35

Mollie Ollie?

csg376 · Yesterday 20:40

I kind of prefer Parka, especially as a fun family-related second middle. Don’t overthink it, it’s a sweet name!

Shallotsaresmallonions · Yesterday 20:44

Middle names don't really come up very often at all. She'll just be Molly Jones which is a perfectly lovely name.

I don't think it sounds ridiculous either way though.

TheBeaTgoeson1 · Yesterday 20:51

Parker is a stupid name, but I wouldn’t worry. Her name is Molly.

TheBeaTgoeson1 · Yesterday 20:51

Parka 🫠😳

Figcherry · Yesterday 20:57

I love the name Molly, the other names won't really be used.
I cant remember my Godchildren's middle names.

halotweetttt · Yesterday 21:03

It’s not the parka that bothers me as it’s almost like a double barrelled surname as it’s a family name. It’s the coupling it with olive!

OP posts:
ICantStomachWhelks · Yesterday 21:25

Oh, I get it now. You’re worried you’ve called your daughter Molly Green Coat Jones?

Nobody pays any attention to middle names, OP, for the vast majority of her life she’ll be Molly Jones.

Molly Jones is a great name, BTW, characterful and strong, I like it.

halotweetttt · Yesterday 21:27

Yes that’s it @ICantStomachWhelks 🙈🙈🙈

OP posts:
KnitWitsAnonymous · Yesterday 21:28

So are you concerned that people will think of Olive as a colour to describe the name Parka as in "Green Coat"? I don't think they will as Olive is a long established name and I have never thought of it as a colour and I have an Olive in my family

No-one has mentioned this in their posts and it sounds like you have only recently thought of this, so I really wouldn't worry

As a PP has said, people rarely use middle names. My own DF famously had to ask my siblings and I what our middle names were when he completed a census form!

halotweetttt · Yesterday 21:28

I just want her to have a perfect name and I’m struggling to get past it !!

There isn't any such thing as a perfect name . . . what may seem like a perfect name now can change at a later date and vice versa

Think about all the elderly men who are called Harry Potter! Their DP's could never have envisaged JKR writing books and choosing that name!

My own name has been used in Midsomer Murders (and the character wasn't a pleasant one!!!)

You have chosen the names you like and Molly is a delightful name both for a child and an adult

ICantStomachWhelks · Yesterday 21:36

You could change Olive to Olivia?

Xmasallergies · Yesterday 21:39

Don’t worry nobody ever uses middle names anyway, it’s cute it is a family name.

LowPowerModes · Yesterday 21:43

I’m not sure what you’re so stressed about. Middle names are completely irrelevant.

PetrolKoala · Yesterday 22:09

I think you are over thinking it. I gave my child some questionable middle names, but it’s not something that ever comes up day to day unless filling in forms. Pretty sure no one actually knows my child’s middle names other than me. I think if people say it in full then they would probably say it as Molly Olive and then Parka Jones like a surname so wouldn’t think of Olive Parka.

dollius · Yesterday 22:13

Molly Olive is absolutely gorgeous! And Parka Jones just sounds like a double barrelled surname. It’s a great name! Love it
