These are the current ones on our list: Ella, Daisy, Natasha, Talia, Natalia, Lacey, Lindsey, Lara, Caitlyn, Penny, Harriet/Hattie, Hallie, Alicia, Rose, Rosaleen, Roseanne, Rochelle, Lorna, Anita, Carys, Matilda/Tilly, Marianne. I'd welcome all feedback, good or bad, and anything I may have missed about any negative connotations or ugly nicknames or anything really. Thanks!

I like -

Lara
Natalia
Marianne

But, pick what you like and don’t be swayed too much by other people’s opinions!

Not keen on Lacey - reminds me of a net curtain - but the others are fine. It's a real mix of modern and traditional names.

Daisy
Harriet
Rose
Rosalyn (this spelling)
Roseanne
Lorna
Carys
Matilda

all good but these are the prettiest ones

Yung93 · 14/05/2026 19:34

I like Hallie, you could even have Hallie-Rose.

Peanutlicious · 14/05/2026 19:37

I like: Talia, Rose, Alicia, Natalia and Caitlyn

Havanalily1806 · 14/05/2026 19:47

It is a very different mix of names, do you have anything in particular that’s drawn you to them? E.g picking some themes you like could help to narrow it down or find alternatives.

Personally not keen on Natasha, Lindsey, Rochelle I think these feel very 90s and outdated.

I like Daisy and Hallie but are a lot more modern than the above and softer sounding.

Personally I’m not keen on names that have clear nicknames which would rule out Harriet and Matilda for me (although I do like Harriet and is quite a strong name and Hattie isn’t an obvious nickname if you chose not to shorten it)

not keen on Lorna, or Anita they sound quite harsh.

Carys unless there is a Welsh connection I personally wouldn’t use, the same with Natalia, it’s a lovely sounding name but doesn’t suit if no Italian/spanish link.

Marianne I’m not sure of but when I first saw it it reminded me of meatball marinara from how it looks, and then I remembered it’s the character in normal people and actually on its own can be a very pretty, strong, different name (maybe a little on the old side) but still recognisable as a name.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 14/05/2026 19:54

I like Matilda/Tilly and Harriet/ Hattie

LlynTegid · 14/05/2026 19:57

Ella would be my choice of your list.

I like Matilda/Tilly and Harriet/ Hattie

Me too!😊

Harriet is my favourite.

I also like Alicia and Rose.

Some of the longer "Rosa ..." names have a heavily American feel for me. I think of Rosasharn in Grapes of Wrath and Roseanne Barr and for me keeping to to Rose is prettier and simpler.

NamingNoNames · 14/05/2026 20:05

Are you in a particular region (e.g. Scotland)? Do you have a heritage/culture that might affect your choice (e. needs to work in Germany orwherever)?
What's the surname?
Do you have any existing children that the names need to not clash with?

Ella- overused
Daisy - ok
Natasha - in her 40s. not keen
Talia, Natalia - not keen
Lacey - dreadful
Lindsey - in her 60s. not keen
Lara - ok, a bit samey with all the current L names
Caitlyn - bad spelling of a slightly dated name
Penny - not keen but it's ok
Harriet/Hattie - like
Hallie - don't like
Alicia - don't like the Aleesha pronunciation
Rose - ok but a bit nothingy
Rosaleen - don't like
Roseanne - in her 60s. not keen
Rochelle - dislike vehemently
Lorna - like
Anita - ok but sounds like an 80 year old's name
Carys - Welsh woman in her 60s. don't like
Matilda/Tilly - ok
Marianne - not keen

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 14/05/2026 20:32

I really like Natalia and Matilda.

Xmasallergies · 14/05/2026 20:51

All nice, I think Talia and Lara are lovely

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/05/2026 21:33

Love Daisy, Talia, Hallie, Penny and Matilda.

I find quite a lot of the remainder quite dated to the 70s/ 80s/ 90s. Byt all personal preference!

user293948849167 · 14/05/2026 21:36

I like them all apart from Lacey
Natalia is nicer than Talia (you could have Talia as a nn)

Love Lorna and Marianne

Giraffehaver · 14/05/2026 22:22

Favourites are Carys and Marianne

margegunderson · 14/05/2026 22:37

Wait for your baby to be born. Live with her for a few days. Then choose. Ignore all the toss about harsh or dated names. You’ll know the right one.

It's not toss. Who wants to hear 'That's my nan's name' about their name?

SemperIdem · 14/05/2026 22:40

Lara, Marianne and Matilda are lovely.

I don’t like Anita but Nina has a similar vibe.

Edited

Won’t happen. I’ve got three adult kids one with a proper unusual granny name - it’s all cool. The OP may well pick a name you say is dated and find every other kid in the baby room has the same one.

Ikeameatballs · 14/05/2026 22:56

I like Talia, Hattie, Lorna, Matilda and Lara.

Is your DC is called something like Tracy or Karen, or Mabel or Elsie?
Mabel and Elsie are current names, Tracey and Karen aren't.

Crispynoodle · 14/05/2026 23:01

Maybe not Caitlin I have 3 in my class and they’re all spelt differently

elm26 · 14/05/2026 23:03

Tilly is my favourite! Biased as I have one! She’s not Matilda, just Tilly.
