These are the current ones on our list: Ella, Daisy, Natasha, Talia, Natalia, Lacey, Lindsey, Lara, Caitlyn, Penny, Harriet/Hattie, Hallie, Alicia, Rose, Rosaleen, Roseanne, Rochelle, Lorna, Anita, Carys, Matilda/Tilly, Marianne. I'd welcome all feedback, good or bad, and anything I may have missed about any negative connotations or ugly nicknames or anything really. Thanks!

Ella - quite like it but I don't think it's very interesting. Nothing wrong with a good, solid name that will serve her well at all ages and stages of life though.
Daisy - not keen but I've never really known why. It's pretty and well established. I'd just never choose it.
Natasha - love it. I know it's fallen out of fashion but I think it's both attractive, slightly quirky and versatile. Also, every Natasha I've ever known has been lovely.
Talia - like it but I think I would assume it was short for something (probably Natalia) if it was spelled without the h (Thalia - is that the same name?)
Natalia - like it but prefer Natalie. Natalia is quite cold to me - a tall, thin, imposing older European woman (but I don't know where that association has come from).
Lacey - it's okay but I just see is an adjective - ie 'a lacy what?' I know that's unresonable, it's been a popular name for ages.
Lindsey - I do see this as very 70s/80s. Not unpleasant though.
Lara - love this. One of my favourite names.
Caitlyn - like it. And quite uncommon now, having been everywhere 15 or so years ago.
Penny - not overly keen but nothing against it.
Harriet/Hattie - not keen. I just don't think it's a very pretty sound.
Hallie - like it. And never actually met one although it's mentioned all the time here.
Alicia - I like it pronounced Al-iss-ee-a, not so keen on A-leesh-a
Rose - like it. Very elegant and classic. And Rosie is cute too.
Rosaleen - not keen on this. Is it the same name as Rosaline? I'd say that with a lye sound rather than a lee sound.
Roseanne it's ok. Much prefer Rosanna which I think is really pretty. Roseanne sounds either unfinished or like 2 names to me.
Rochelle - don't like this. Feels very dated. And I don't like the shell sound.
Lorna - it's ok but I think Laura and Lauren are much prettier.
Anita - another dated one but I think it would grow on me. Fresher than Annie, for sure.
Carys - really like this and it's unusual in England.

Matilda/Tilly - really like Matilda but not keen on Tilly. I wouldn't choose to shorten Matilda (as a Rebecca, I know people often don't give you a choice about shortening!)
Marianne - quite like it. Very elegant.

My top three would be Natasha, Lara and Carys in that order.

Thanks! Leaning towards Natasha but I had a few negative comments on it which put me off a bit.

The only Natashas I know go by Tasha

MSJ14 · 17/05/2026 08:15

My 13 year old is Lacey, it really suits her. I understand why people dislike it, but I personally love it.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 17/05/2026 08:59

Ella: I find it a bit boring. Fairly popular but it still seems like it should be „short for…“ (Gabriella, Isabella, Amabella etc)

Daisy: not my favourite but it’s fine.

Natasha: It‘s okay.

Talia: lovely!

Natalia: very nice!

Lacey: absolutely not!!

Lindsey: so dated!

Lara: definitely works.

Caitlyn: dated.

Penny: adorable!

Harriet/Hattie: nice!

Hallie: not my cup of tea.

Alicia: nice.

Rose: lovely!

Rosaleen: it’s okay but dated and a bit fussy. Rose is nice.

Roseanne: similar vibes as Rosaleen.

Rochelle: Incredibly dated and honestly quite ugly in my personal opinion!

Lorna: it’s fine. But quite dated. I think it might come back in 20-30 years.

Anita: it’s fine.

Carys: not my cup of tea but it definitely works.

Matilda/Tilly: lovely!

Marianne: very nice!

Lacey and Rochelle are the two names that really don’t work IMO.
Lindsey, Caitlyn, Rosaleen, Roseanne and Lorna aren’t my cup of tea either.

Rose, Matilda, Marianne and Talia are lovely imo!

Ella, Daisy, Natasha, Talia, Natalia, Lacey, Lindsey, Lara, Caitlyn, Penny, Harriet/Hattie, Hallie, Alicia, Rose, Rosaleen, Roseanne, Rochelle, Lorna, Anita, Carys, Matilda/Tilly, Marianne.

My favourties are: Mariaene, Carys (prefer Charis spelling), Rose, Talia (Thalia) and Natalia, particularly Marianne, which I think is an underused classic.

I like: Daisy, Natasha, Lara, Harriet and Matilda.

I don't like Alicia but Alice is beautiful.
I don't like the rest of your names.

StMargsGirl · 17/05/2026 16:36

Carys, though pretty, is the anglicised and (in Wales) old fashioned way of spelling Cerys. People will keep spelling it with an e (because of C Matthews) and asking if she is from a welsh-speaking family.

muddyford · 17/05/2026 16:38

The nicest unusual name I've heard recently was Carianne.

kezzieeve · 17/05/2026 16:39

I like lots of them. Favourites are:

Harriet
Matilda
Daisy
Rose

i think these four are particular beautiful.

Latinglow · 17/05/2026 16:41

I love Natalia, Lacey, rose, Roseanne and caitlyn

I want to like daisy but makes me think of cows.

Do not like Lorna, Rochelle, Lindsey, Anita or penny

Latinglow · 17/05/2026 16:56

My absolute favourites are Natalia and Lacey and caitlyn.

Natalia NOT Natalie (every Natalie I’ve met has been a bitch)

The more I think about it the more I dislike penny. If ever there was a name to describe as “cheap” it would be penny. Literally and figuratively

Sparklinggreen · 18/05/2026 19:10

Rose and Lara are my favs.
also like Natasha.

but I always think combination with surname is also important

PinkPonyAnonymous · 18/05/2026 19:57

Ella - a popular name for good reason! Super cute!
Daisy - cutesy
Natasha, Talia, Natalia - these are actually all the same name! Natasha and Talia are diminutives of Natalia. If you like them all, go for Natalia and she can shorten as she chooses. To me it’s quite a Christmassy name.
Lacey - kind of dated
Lindsey - very dated
Lara - lovely
Caitlyn - I’d avoid due to the number of yooneek spellings
Penny - short for Penelope very lovely
Harriet/Hattie - lovely
Hallie - very cool girl
Alicia - LOVE THIS! (And might add to my own list!)
Rose - nice and prefer it to Daisy as a slightly more robust/mature cute
Rosaleen, Roseanne, - I prefer Rosanna or Rosalind or Rosamund
Rochelle - have you ever seen the comedy sketch about the Tricolore French textbooks? “Ou est la piscine don LA ROCHELLE?”
Lorna - is she being born at 46 years old?
Anita - very lovely
Carys - she will spend her life explaining how welsh she is if you don’t live in Wales
Matilda/Tilly - nice, popular for a reason
Marianne - quite specific name. Go for it if you like it

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/05/2026 20:36

Ella - i like the simplicity of Ella. Its a gorgeous name, what put me off was the popularity of Ellie

Daisy - not a huge fan. I find it a bit twee

Natasha - i like it, slightly dated but i dont mind that. I like Tasha

Talia - i kind of like it as a nn for Talitha

Natalia - not a fan. Its really popular at my kids primary school, at least one in pretty much every year group, 2 in my eldest

Lacey - dated to the 00s, a bit meh

Lindsey - i like it. Though prefer it for a boy

Lara - nice but msy get lost in the sea of L named girls - Luna, Lyra, Lily, Lola etc

Caitlyn - i like it, prefer Caitlin

Penny - not a huge fan

Harriet/Hattie - like alot

Hallie - its ok

Alicia - pretty

Rose - like but only as a first not as a filler middle

Rosaleen - not a fan, prefer Rosalin or Rosalind

Roseanne - nope
Rochelle - sounds dated and like the name a 13 would of picked in the 90/00s

Lorna - pretty but see Lara

Anita - ok. I prefer Annika

Carys - nice enough

Matilda/Tilly - overdone

Marianne - beautiful. You saved the best til last

ThatWhiteElephant · 18/05/2026 22:17

From your list Talía is my favourite.
