Pretty much sorted for girls names, but finding boys names very challenging! These are my options, would love opinions and any suggestions to other names I may like… We are definitely a nickname family, so these would likely all be shortened.

Thomas (Tom)
Arthur (Art)
Joseph (Joe)
Johnathan (John/Johnny)
Peter (Pete)
Adrian (Ade)
Edmund (Ned/Eddie)

Can’t say I’m in love with any boys names at all! But these are the ones I seem to mind the least. Would love all thoughts and suggestions, thanks a lot!

Of your original list, all are nice except Adrian. Why would you spell Jonathan as Johnathan?

xOlive · Yesterday 06:59

I love Atticus (Attie).
If you like traditional names you could have Christopher with the nickname Kit.

Johnathon is a very common spelling.

IsaacBenabram · Yesterday 12:08

Thomas (Tom) - like, would be happy to
Arthur (Art) - Arthur very popular. I don't like Art.
Joseph (Joe) - ok
Johnathan (John/Johnny) - Johnathan is awful. Jonathan a bit dated.
Peter (Pete) - like.
Adrian (Ade) - A drain.
Edmund (Ned/Eddie) - Ned is awful.

Johnathon is a very common spelling. It's not and it's dreadful. @LoudPlumDog .

IsaacBenabram · Yesterday 12:29

@LoveYouHoneybear , what names have you considered?

The ONS site has a list of all the names registered in 2024.
How about:
Zeb short for Zebulon or Zebedee
Nat/Nathaniel
Greg/Gregory
Jonty/Jonathan
Griff/Griffin/Griffith
Jac/Jacobi
Mal/Malachi
Tim/Timothy
Mike/Michael

Calliopespa · Yesterday 15:57

I like them all.

I keep thinking it is time John came back. A good, strong, straightforward classic.

LoveYouHoneybear · Yesterday 16:00

Thanks all! Some good suggestions. Yes, I misspelled Jonathan, please forgive me.

You're forgiven. Others will misspell it IRL.Smile

I like it and Jonny/Johnny/Johnnie is great too.
Jonty is a bit easier spelling-wise and it a bit different in a good way.

Calliopespa · Yesterday 19:17

I think looking again my favourite is maybe Edmund/Ned.

It's classic but a bit unusual.

Firebird83 · Yesterday 19:49

Love Peter and Edmund. I like Jonathan but prefer John/Johnny spelling to Jon/Jonny.

Giraffehaver · Yesterday 23:10

Joseph and Peter are my favourites from your list

mumofoneAloneandwell · Yesterday 23:11

I like Joey 🥰

LivingTheDreamish · Today 04:49

Great list - Edmund and Joseph are my favouries - but it's sad you don't love any of them. How about Aiden (Ade), Elias (Eli), Zachary (Zach).

Brownbear8 · Today 11:17

Off your list I think Arthur is the best option with Artie as another nickname possibility.

Of ones suggested already I like:
Edward (Ted/Teddy)
Dominic (Dom)
Caleb (Cal)

Other suggestions you might like:

Montague/Montgomery (nickname Monty)
Maxwell/Maximillian (nickname Max)
Harrison (nickname Harry)
Elijah (nickname Eli)
Callum (nickname Cal)
Hubert (Bertie/Hubes)

timoteigirl · Today 11:44

What about Timothy and Lawrence?

Thomas (Tom) - yes
Arthur (Art) - I personally really dislike
Joseph (Joe) - yes
Johnathan (John/Johnny) - maybe
Peter (Pete) - maybe
Adrian (Ade) - maybe
Edmund (Ned/Eddie) - like

It surprises me that mums here come up with nicknames. They always come organically, otherwise won't stick.

Eenameenadeeka · Today 12:06

I like Arthur or Edmund from your list.
I also like Edgar or Wilbur.
