deeahgwitch · 27/03/2026 16:52

Not a fan.
Sorry

Blueunicornthistle · 27/03/2026 16:53

I think it’s lovely, I also like Martine.

Oopsamama · 27/03/2026 16:53

Sounds Polish or German to me, not very modern for an English name.

PiggieWig · 27/03/2026 16:53

Does it have a personal significance?

I don’t think I’d like being called Martina and I wouldn’t choose it for my daughter

Pieceofpurplesky · 27/03/2026 16:53

It's dated at the moment but that means nothing for the future. If you like it use it - set the trend!

LovelyDayLovelyDay · 27/03/2026 16:54

I love it!

ComeOnPhilEarlySpringPlease · 27/03/2026 16:57

I always think of tennis - Navratilova or Hinglis
I did know a lovely Martina though she went by Tina.
I think I prefer Marina. Singer is a goddess and I like the link with water.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 27/03/2026 16:59

Dislike

NigellaDelia · 27/03/2026 16:59

Sorry, I really don't like it. If you don't like it sometimes, it's not the right name to choose unless you're using the name to honour a male relative named Martin

What other names do you like?

DoingANewThing · 27/03/2026 17:01

It was popular for Irish women about 50-60 years ago. So sounds dated to my ear. BUT…it’s a pretty name. Maybe due a comeback some time soon.

PainterInPeril · 27/03/2026 17:02

I like it.

ginasevern · 27/03/2026 17:07

Not keen really. I think it's the sort of name you'd use if there was a cultural or family connection maybe. I've heard a lot worse though, and it isn't horrible.

EmeraldDreams73 · 27/03/2026 17:07

I'm not keen personally but I do like Marina

NamingNoNames · 27/03/2026 17:19

It's fine. I don't know many. It's nicer that the other names you've been asking about.

Monolithique · 27/03/2026 17:23

I knew a Martina in younger years so it makes me think of her.
Other ideas

Marika , Marissa, Merryn

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 27/03/2026 17:29

Reminds me of Navratilova, my favourite tennis player.

dizzydizzydizzy · 27/03/2026 19:20

I immediately think ‘Navratilova’!

Dalmationday · 27/03/2026 19:21

Sounds European

Giraffehaver · 27/03/2026 22:26

I'd never use it because I knew a really snotty one so that's coloured my opinion

Pettenell · 28/03/2026 08:09

I don't love it, but it's not terrible. I prefer Marina.

user2848502016 · 28/03/2026 08:30

It’s ok but I prefer Martine or Marina

OrangeStrip · 28/03/2026 08:33

I have a friend called Martina and we all call her Martian.

OhDear111 · 28/03/2026 08:33

Navratilova! Do you like tennis?

user1492757084 · 28/03/2026 10:43
