Is it that bad? I really like it, and I've tried it on a few people and they've seemed to like it too. I know of a 3 year old one and she suits it and gets called Bloss. My DH likes it but thinks it's too risky as it's so girly and a bit marmite so she might not like it.
I personally don't think it sounds more girly than Rosie, Poppy etc which are all popular, but I appreciate it is more unusual. I don't really care about the TV series, I didnt see it and kids these days won't know it.

Dreadful, unless a baby cow.

OsmanthusRose · 25/03/2026 15:21

I don't see it as mega girly, any more than other flower names like Rose, Daisy, Clover etc. I don't think I would like to be called it though, the association is pretty but the word itself is not, I think.

bohnerific69 · 25/03/2026 15:23

My favourite powerpuff girl! Sorry, no.

GingerLeopard · 25/03/2026 15:24

I really love it! I do tend to love the more out there names though.

GoldenRosebee · 25/03/2026 15:26

I also love it!

GoldenCupsatHarvestTime · 25/03/2026 15:26

I think it’s sweet. Bloss is awful though

Spaghettea · 25/03/2026 15:31

I had an original My Little Pony called Blossom.

I do think it's a great middle name for a spring baby.

Dahlia1234 · 25/03/2026 15:36

Love it. Please not Bloss tho!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/03/2026 15:37

Haven’t you read the Jams Herriot stories? Blossom is an elderly cow.

flipperdipper5 · 25/03/2026 15:39

I like the word and the nature connotations but it looks so ugly written down. Bloss is awful too. I think it’s ok but probably more suited to a pets name.

DivorcedButHappyNow · 25/03/2026 15:41

Wont work when she’s 40 and Chairman of the Board. It’s a sweet name for a very young child but won’t carry her all the way which a name should do.

DemBonesDemBones · 25/03/2026 15:47

I think it’s lovely.

Scabadadabadooo · 25/03/2026 15:48

I quite like Bloss and think it's inevitable, even if we don't use it ourselves.
It's the issue round whether it works for an adult woman that concerns me. But there are so many flowery names now, that lots of judges and doctors and lawyers etc will be called Daisy and Willow and Poppy.
I also don't like the idea that feminine names are weak names. I think you can still kick ass as a Blossom.
Thanks for the opinions so far, keep 'em coming. I think it might end up being crossed off as I can't shake the doubts.

I love it. Bobby as a nickname?

GoldenCupsatHarvestTime · 25/03/2026 15:55

Bloss means a drag of a cigarette in Scandinavia. Fun fact

Graceyfields · 25/03/2026 16:00

Stripper name

HowDoYouSolveAProblemLikeMyRear · 25/03/2026 16:04

To me it sounds too much like a pet name such as Honey or Flossie. I’d feel slightly awkward calling a grown woman Blossom!

Scabadadabadooo · 25/03/2026 16:20

Any other ideas for names with a similar feel? I can't get excited by Rosie, Lily, Poppy, Daisy etc.
I think I like names that are a bit more unusual.

I love the name Blossom, but not sure it’s great for an adult. I had a friend called Pebbles and when she got older she started using her middle name Lucy as her name because she felt silly being called Pebbles. So maybe give a more typical middle name? She was 18 when she switched over.

BaronessBomburst · 25/03/2026 16:24

How about Zara, which means blossom in Arabic?

SleepingStandingUp · 25/03/2026 16:25

Well I loved the show. Just don't give her a sister called Six

Magnolia :)

Lilac, Meadow, Primrose, Lavender, Daisy, Luella, Tallulah, Posy. Just a few off the top of my head!

Willow is awesome

Ilovewillow · 25/03/2026 16:30

I think it's lovely but I love a nature name - my daughter is Willow and she definitely kicks ass at, now, 17! Not a fan of a nickname so would go with Blossom rather than Bloss.
