Is it that bad? I really like it, and I've tried it on a few people and they've seemed to like it too. I know of a 3 year old one and she suits it and gets called Bloss. My DH likes it but thinks it's too risky as it's so girly and a bit marmite so she might not like it.
I personally don't think it sounds more girly than Rosie, Poppy etc which are all popular, but I appreciate it is more unusual. I don't really care about the TV series, I didnt see it and kids these days won't know it.

As a teen of the 90’s…..I prefer Six.

DH has thrown Indigo into the mix. He says it's his fave. Thoughts?

Horrible! How can he like that and not Marigold or Primrose? How is he too boring for a Marigold but not an Indigo (is that even for a girl?).

hahabahbag · 26/03/2026 21:57

I’ve met two, both from southern Africa, both lovely women, one was dgm in laws carer

Edited

I think it's cause we know an Indigo so it feels more normal than Marigold. Also it shortens to Indi which he's keen on and is quite mainstream.
I don't think indigo is a name I can settle on though.
His issue with Primrose is the Prim bit.

I’m not keen to be honest, and I do generally like flowery type names - Poppy, Daisy etc. I think Blossom has a completely different vibe.

I don’t dislike any out of Marigold, Primrose or Indigo. Meadow is nice too.

Shinyhappyapple · 26/03/2026 23:54

I’m not keen on Daphne either - sorry.

Enko · 27/03/2026 00:06

I like Blossom. Also like Daphne.
Indigo for me is a boys name as I knew a boy Indigo. However I guess it's unisex and I am not fond of unisex names personally.

Brooke?
Aspen
Tansy
Heather
Hazel
Autumn

catinateacup · 27/03/2026 00:21

Clover doesn’t grab you?

Indie is nice but I’d prefer India or Indiana for the full version. Indigo says Steiner school crunchy new age parents to me. (Maybe you are, though, in which case, have at it! 😆👍)

Linnea? (Swedish name, very pretty, I know a couple). Siri? Clea? Sidonie? What about Marianne, if you like Daphne and Marigold?

It's not unisex imo. I consider it a male name, and yyy to the 'crunchy/ Steiner' category.

India or Indya would be nicer.

mathanxiety · 27/03/2026 01:27

How about Birdie?
Its another derivation of Bridget (along with Bridie and Biddy) but has a sort of hippie ring to it.

viques · 27/03/2026 01:35

Scabadadabadooo · 25/03/2026 16:20

Any other ideas for names with a similar feel? I can't get excited by Rosie, Lily, Poppy, Daisy etc.
I think I like names that are a bit more unusual.

Cherry, Holly, Ivy, Flora, Iris.

Well as a girl/woman I would love to be called Marigold or Primrose and the prim bit would never have occurred to me (or the gloves). Being stuck with Indigo or Blossom I’d be hoping for a decent middle name to use instead 🫤🫣

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/03/2026 06:52

Peony.
Iris.

AndCallMeNancy · 27/03/2026 06:58

Please OP don’t get swayed by Indigo! Feels clunky and masculine to me. Blossom is 100 times more lovely. Daphne is sweet. Daisy is a safe and pretty option and nothing at all wrong with it IMO.

India is beautiful and would be a way better option for Indie. Or what about Violet if he likes Indigo? Way more elegant and you can have Vivi for short.

Birdie is a very cute suggestion and in fact I think there were sisters called Birdie and Blossom in a school my DD attended for a short time! I remember thinking ‘Great names’ 😊

PixelDustMom · 27/03/2026 07:02

I like Blossom 🌸

I also like Iris and Ivy.

Scabadadabadooo · 27/03/2026 11:17

Indigo definitely not going on the list.
I really like Birdie, but to me it feels very much a nickname. I'd worry about it seeming like it's not a proper name. Is it established enough as a name now?

Flora is on the list. India is a no go for me, due to knowing an awful India. I've never considered Indiana.
Violet is nice. I'm not keen on Ivy or Iris, perfectly ok names but not for me.

OP posts:
Bluechuckle · 27/03/2026 11:27

I’d also consider Birdie a short form or nickname only.

Róisín?
Dara was traditionally a boys name but also used for girls now. Oak-tree is the meaning in Irish I think.

Comtesse · 27/03/2026 11:30

Fleur, Rose, Willow?
Blossom Dearie was a wonderful musician.

RegalDiamondMonster · 28/03/2026 06:30

I think Blossom is a trendy choice with younger mums, it will probably increase in popularity. It's fine. Maybe Bluebell or Clover for a similar vibe?
I like Flora best of your list.

Ipollita · 28/03/2026 07:29

I think it’s really lovely, OP, and I like it even more after reading some of the replies here.

Clichéd tropes about not being taken seriously in a boardroom or male dominated field (as if that’s what every woman aspires to, anyway) - pure misogyny.

Talipesmum · 28/03/2026 08:26

Tamzin / Tamsin?

I feel the same way. I understand people not liking the name, but I think it's a depressing state of affairs if we can't call our daughters feminine names in case they're not taken seriously at work.
It's not like I'm suggesting Candyfloss or Sugarplum. It's just a flower name like any other.
I still like it and it's probably still my top choice.

Also considering Alana nn Lani
Alana Blossom. Gives that Irish connection.

OP posts:
ChaToilLeam · 28/03/2026 08:44

Don't think Blossom works as a first name, somehow. There are other nicer flower names. But as a middle name, Alana Blossom has a nice flow to it.

Not keen at all, I know an Indira, nn Indie.

Indian name but works well in other cultures I think it’s lovely.

sorry but Birdie is awful. Like what old men used to call young girls in the 70s.

I like your latest suggestion of Alana Blossom. I think Blossom works well as a middle name.
