Is it that bad? I really like it, and I've tried it on a few people and they've seemed to like it too. I know of a 3 year old one and she suits it and gets called Bloss. My DH likes it but thinks it's too risky as it's so girly and a bit marmite so she might not like it.
I personally don't think it sounds more girly than Rosie, Poppy etc which are all popular, but I appreciate it is more unusual. I don't really care about the TV series, I didnt see it and kids these days won't know it.

Well I loved the show. Just don't give her a sister called Six

Six was her best friend, I’d forgotten about her! 😀

OP sorry I like the idea of it but it’s just not a nice name. Bloss is dreadful. And Blossom written down to me just looks like Bosom.

Giraffehaver · 25/03/2026 22:36

At school, we used to say Drop 'em Blossom and thought it was hilarious. No idea where it came from.
How about Marigold nn Goldie?

Lifeissodifficult · 25/03/2026 23:29

My adult daughter is Blossom.

She loves it 🥰

She is strong, so generous hearted and successful.

i really don’t care if people think its crap .. she loves her name and others love it too .

This is lovely to see. Does she ever shorten it or have any nicknames related to it?
Glad she loves her name.

I love Meadow but dhs cousin has a Meadow. I quite like Posy but think it might have the same issue as Blossom.
Lavender is nice, but maybe a bit too much.

Posy is a lot more horsey than Blossom.

Would you like -
Summer
Autumn
Sage
Rowen or Rowena
Robyn
Savannah

I love Fiadh from your list upthread. You can spell it without the dh and it's still perfectly correct.

Other Irish names -
Orla
Una
Nora
Niamh
Aoife
Beibhinn (pronounced Bevin)
Brona
Rona
Maeve (or Maebh)
Muireann

Or older names that were popular in Ireland a long time ago -
Kathleen
Rosaleen
Darina
Finola

catinateacup · 26/03/2026 00:39

I honestly wouldn’t. Sounds too close to Bottom for me — just that end -om sound.

Posy, Maudie, Christabel, Viola, Marguerite, Clover, Hebe?

SnowFrogJelly · 26/03/2026 01:09

Hyacinth

alexdgr8 · 26/03/2026 01:15

No.
It's the name of a
cart horse.

paintedpanda · 26/03/2026 03:46

I’m not keen on Blossom. From your list of other names, one of them is my DDs name and another is a female version of my DS. We really struggled naming our recent twins (thankfully they were boys because girls names were impossible), but on my list were…
Eden
Claudia (claw-dia)
Rosalie
Camille (nn Milla)

MagnoliaTreeBlossom · 26/03/2026 04:54

What about Rowan or Linden? Trees rather that floral like blossom but beautiful names.

CeciliaMars · 26/03/2026 05:57

How about Marigold? I loved it but my husband vetoed it.

user1492757084 · 26/03/2026 06:15

Some others similar ..

Bloom
Clover
Iris
Posy
Dahlia
Floribunda
Lilac
Lilium
Jasmine
Japonica

Blossom is sweet if it is always said in full.
Little Ragged Blossom is a character in a children's book.

I would only use Blossom as a middle name.
Arrietta Blossom
Clara Blossom
Cassandra Blossom
Mary Blossom

wyntersunbeam · 26/03/2026 06:18

I really like it.

Sandysandytoes · 26/03/2026 06:27

I know a Blossom, it really suits her, she is a guinea pig though.

Bloss and Blossy are both awful - Blot and Bossy. Also you can’t control nicknames!

AndCallMeNancy · 26/03/2026 06:47

Am liking others suggestions of Marigold. Goldie or Mari are cute nicknames.

One of the few names me and DH agreed on was Bridie, could that be an option…. lovely Irish name… added bonus - easy to spell!

Just to let you know that Bridie would be considered extremely old fashioned in Ireland. Also, it’s a short form of Bridget/Brigid so that’s what would be on the birth cert usually.

Yep, fully aware of this as it was a strong contender for us when DD was born. We have Irish grandparents but live in the UK. I think OP is in a similar position ie Irish heritage but not living there. She may not like it anyway but I think it’s beautiful!

Scabadadabadooo · 26/03/2026 12:09

Bridie is a nice name, thank you, but the old fashioned connotations put us off as we are very close to family in Ireland, travel there a lot etc.

I really like Marigold but DH just laughed and said no, but it's got great nicknames so it's going on the list. He thinks we are too boring to pull off Goldie 🤣
Blossom is a bit more mainstream I think.

Daisy is a contender, Daphne is top at the moment, siblings love it which is nice and it's a nature name but still quite safe/inoffensive.
I also like Zinnia and Leilani has been mentioned a couple of times. Haven't really heard of that but quite like it, I think it came up twice in this thread.
Rowan is cool but I know too many boy Rowans, I just think of them. I do quite like Sorrel.

Peanutlicious · 26/03/2026 14:01

If you like floral/nature names what about:

Fleur
Jasmine
Rowan
Iris
Melissa

idkbroidk · 26/03/2026 14:03

it's cardi b's baby's name! sooo cute i love it!!!

Laiste · 26/03/2026 16:10

Daisy is lovely.

I have a Daisy and she is complimented on her name all the time. 🌸

The two names I like the most are the ones your dh dislikes the most 🫤 I love Marigold and Primrose! (I don’t like Blossom at all).

alexdgr8 · 26/03/2026 17:50

Daphne is a good name.

Marigold sounds like washing-up gloves.

alexdgr8 · 26/03/2026 17:52

Another one sounds like those out of control trees that cause neighbour disputes.

Avoid the strange and quirky.
Give your child the dignity of a proper solid serious name.
