Don’t know what we’re having and can barely agree on any names but these two names are both ones we sort of like.

I’m not keen on either but I’d go for April as Chloe seems a bit dated to me

2chocolateoranges · 17/03/2026 21:29

I’d go for April, I used to work with an April and she was such a lovely person.

chloe is so overused. Not a fan

Alpacajigsaw · 17/03/2026 21:30

Not that wild on either of them but probably Chloe. April is terrible

GoodVibesHere · 17/03/2026 21:32

I love the name April, it's very pretty. I also like the French version Avril.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/03/2026 21:32

Chloe definitely. April is meh and cliche. I assume baby is due in April? If not, even weirder.

scottishGirl · 17/03/2026 21:42

Going to hijack this thread...I'm also considering April and was actually going to start a thread to ask thoughts on naming your daughter April if they aren't born in April...what is everyone's thoughts on this? My baby is due in July.

Obviously, my choice for Op would be April!

Calliopespa · 17/03/2026 21:44

I'm not a great fan of month names (and definitely not days like Sunday), but I do think the word April is itself quite a pretty word and does make me think of springtime.

Like a pp, I prefer the French Avril, and think it hits you as a month name slightly less obviously.

But it isn't a terrible name by any means.

As above, I think it’s weird.

April is beautiful!

SummerFrog2026 · 17/03/2026 21:48

Chloe. I love it.

but honestly you need a name YOU love. Don't just settle for something you're both just meh about. You don't need the name before the baby & you have time once the baby arrives.

Out of interest, would you say the same if someone was called June? I know a June and have never asked her if she is born in June...

Yes, I would probably assume they were born in June. I’m not really a fan of month names at all.

Eenameenadeeka · 17/03/2026 22:03

Id pick April of those 2.

xOlive · 17/03/2026 22:05

Definitely April! It’s a lovely name.

Also, @scottishGirl it’s a lovely name, I’d think it was somehow stranger if she was born in April 😂 like you couldn’t think of a name so went with the month she was born in.
My DD’s middle name is May (after my Nanna) and she was born in June x

Glassonshelf · 17/03/2026 22:07

I love April, it's a fresh and vibrant name - to me anyway. I also love May and June as names. Maybe as those months are the Spring and always filled with some relief from the crappy winter.

I don't think it's necessary to be born in those months to have those names!

Daffodilsinthespring · 17/03/2026 22:08

April.
Chloe is too dated

Pemba · 17/03/2026 22:11

Chloe is a beautiful name, a bit overused in the 80s/90s maybe. I prefer it to April though (which is fine but more ordinary).

How about Zoe? It's a similar name, just as nice, but people don't seem to think it dated to a particular time so much as they do with Chloe. In my opinion both Zoe and Chloe are classic names though.

1000StrawberryLollies · 17/03/2026 22:14

April. I'm not a fan of Chloe - it's a bit wishy-washy imo.

TheHouse · 17/03/2026 22:17

My daughter is called April. She was born in December. I’ve always loved the name. I can honestly say in fourteen years not one person has asked me or her if she was born in April. Total non issue, so if you like the name go for it.

AgentPidge · 17/03/2026 22:18

April does seem fresher. But Chloe isn't awful.

I don't like Avril. It sounds like a headache pill, or Bovril. Sorry to those who like it.

Giraffehaver · 17/03/2026 22:19

I know an April who's the loveliest of women. It's a beautiful name

ToastSafeFromMothsAndDogs · 17/03/2026 22:20

April or Avril

MissRabbit00 · 17/03/2026 22:20

I have a three year old called April who was born in June. It’s a lovely name and also less common.

Chloe was also on my list so we prob have the same taste in names (other front runners were Penny, Fearne and Georgia if that helps!)

samspotato · 17/03/2026 22:21

April by a country mile. Chloe is dated and beige. I
dont think being born in April matters. May is very popular as a middle name, I doubt all the Ellie Mays out there were born in May.
April is pretty, timeless and not too common.

What about may? 🤔
