Sibling for Eloise

Banderz · 04/02/2026 13:35

Our daughter's name is Eloise and we are expecting another child in the summer. We won't find out the gender.

Our final names are

Girl: Matilda, Simone or Esme

Boy: Arlo, Robin or William

Which are the favourites?

I wouldn't choose the same initial so I'd avoid Esme. I don't like the way Simone will be pronounced in the UK (assuming you're in the UK), so Matilda for me.

Robin is cute but I do know one who went by his middle name instead. Not Arlo. William is a solid, safe choose. I know most become Will but I love Billy for a little boy.

Sofado · 04/02/2026 18:46

Simone and William.
Definitely not Robin or Arlo.
Strongly dislike Esme. Matilda is OK.

DinoDances · 04/02/2026 19:06

I personally wouldn't want the same initial for siblings so that would easily rule out Esme. My picks would be Matilda and Robin.

DiscoDuck40 · 04/02/2026 19:09

Abelard and Eloise - got to be.

dailyconniptions · 04/02/2026 19:10

Esme and Robin. Names don't need to 'go' though!

deeahgwitch · 04/02/2026 19:11

Esme and Arlo

ttcfirsttime26 · 04/02/2026 19:12

Eloise & Esmé
Eloise & William

Moreteaandchocolate · 04/02/2026 19:27

Esme is my favourite of your girl’s names, if you don’t mind the shared “E” initial with Eloise? I like Matilda but Ellie and Tilly are a bit similar.

Boys, I like William best.

I've had the name Eloise as my favourite since I was 15 years old 😊 The name existed pre Bridgerton iykyk

Was this your inspiration?
I love the name and my DD would've been Eloise if she hadn't had her name .
I like Mercedes but I couldn't land her with that one !

i like William for a boy and Robin for a girl

yikesanotherbooboo · 04/02/2026 20:09

Matilda, Robin and William

KnickerlessParsons · 04/02/2026 20:11

Abelard?

KnickerlessParsons · 04/02/2026 20:12

And it should be Eloïse

Mosaic80 · 04/02/2026 20:16

I’d go with Robin or Matilda. I know so many arlos and not keen on william, i think i know too many my age who aren’t great 😬. I want like Simone but it’s just not quite doing it for me, I love Sabine though for a similar vibe? Also Celeste.

littlemousebigcheese · 04/02/2026 20:18

Hate robin and Simone. Love Matilda. Arlo is ok

Firebird83 · 04/02/2026 23:25

Arlo is going to date badly. I like Matilda and William best.

LivingTheDreamish · 05/02/2026 03:11

I like Eloise and Esme together (I'm a fan of a bit of alliteration).

William

user1492757084 · 05/02/2026 07:22

Eloise is gorgeous.
My faves are Matilda and William.

Simone and Robin are my second choice.

idontgetitdoyou · 05/02/2026 13:20

Esme is lovely.
What about Genevieve or another French name?

Love Genevieve.
Sylvie ?

Esme is French 💕
Genevieve is really pretty but too many syllables for my husbands taste as he hates having a 4 syllable name
Sylvie is cute but don't love it, but thanks for the suggestions

I like Arlo & Simone best but think Robin & Matilda work best with Eloise.

Genevieve and Eloïse both have three syllables though.

Genevieve and Eloïse both have three syllables though.

Genevieve has four syllables in French, though - ge-ne-vi-eve.
