Hii. I'd be soo grateful for your opinions of the above names. Expecting baby #2 and it's confirmed to be a girl so now i get to obsess over names and browse girly toys and clothing.

My ex doesn't want to be involved so thought it might be good idea to join here.

TIA xx

I think both Rebecca and Sabrina are little bit dated. I think Violet is lovely, but I love Rebecca.

Hollyhobbi · 31/01/2026 13:52

Rebecca

tsmainsqueeze · 31/01/2026 13:54

I really like them all ,but can't stand abbreviations of Rebecca.

MayasJamas · 31/01/2026 13:54

Rebecca is lovely, especially if used in full and not shortened to Becky (nothing against that shortening, I just like the sound of Rebecca!)

Nevertriedcaviar · 31/01/2026 13:56

If your surname is compatible, I would go for Rebecca.

Sabrina always reminds me of the witch in the TV programme 'Bewitched.' (Only people of a certain age will remember this).

Violet isn't bad but will always remind me of Lady Grantham in Downton Abbey.

romantasylife · 31/01/2026 14:00

Vilolet is very popular at the moment due to the fourth wing series. It's a big thing that 4/5 years when this cohort of kids start school it will be all fantasy characters!

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 31/01/2026 14:02

Rebecca is timeless and elegant

bells456 · 31/01/2026 14:39

Violet

Isadora2007 · 31/01/2026 14:41

Sabrina will be more popular due to Sabrina Carpenter.

I like violet.

But please less of the “girly toys”shit - unless you need a vagina to play with it, it’s not a girly toy.

Give it a rest. This is a baby name forum not a virtue signalling forum.

Rebekah, because that's how we spell it in my family.

Wasn’t the witch in bewitched called Samantha?

DiscoDuck40 · 31/01/2026 15:29

Violet is a lovely name

loislovesstewie · 31/01/2026 15:30

It was 'Sabrina the teenage witch'.
Samantha was in 'Bewitched'.

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/01/2026 15:35

Violet is my favourite - and I like Lettie / Ettie for short

I like Rebecca but I don’t like the short versions (and you can’t control those as she gets older)

Sabrina - teenage witch / dated / no nice shortenings. Selena / Serena are nicer.

user2848502016 · 31/01/2026 15:38

Rebecca, it’s classic and timeless - I really wanted it for DD2 but it doesn’t go with our surname.
I like Becky and Becca as nicknames

Violet is also lovely but feel like it will get dated

Rebecca Violet or Violet Rebecca maybe?

Not keen on Sabrina but it’s not terrible

boysmuminherts · 31/01/2026 15:39

Not Sabrina
Rebecca is lovely, classic.
Violet is ok, more popular atm I believe

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 31/01/2026 15:45

Rebecca although I like the Rebekah spelling more and it differentiates from all the Rebeccas of my generation

BebbanburgIsMine · 31/01/2026 15:47

I have a Rebecca. I never allowed any shortening of her name when she was younger, I can’t stand shortening or nicknaming.

Now an adult, she doesn’t allow any shortenings or nicknames either.

Selene15 · 31/01/2026 15:48

Violet for me. It's unusual, timeless, but easy to spell and pronounce. Sabrina is nice, but my brain would always want to fill in "... the Teenage Witch". Rebecca/Rebekah is nice and classic, but so popular (at least it was for early nineties babies like me - I reckon I've known at least six girls around my age who used the full name, plus several more who went by Becky, Becca, Bekah or Bex).

Don't let that put you off though! Nice names are popular for a reason :) Only you will know what suits your baby best.

And if you do, it's probably not a suitable toy for a baby!

I'd choose Rebecca. Sabrina makes me think of the teenage witch and Violet is having a moment, which means it will date your child in later life. They may or may not bother you. Rebecca is a lovely classic.

The OP absolutely can control what name her daughter is called, until the child is old enough to state her preferences..

No-one except the child and her parents has the right to call her anything else other than her given name. This is something I feel very strongly about.

Fridgedooropen · 31/01/2026 16:00

Sabrina - nice though it'll look like homage to Carpenter (I think of Sabrina Fair 😃)

Rebecca - favourite, classic

Violet - don't like and not keen on the shortenings (Vi? Letty?)

Cocktailsandcheese · 31/01/2026 16:04

Love Rebecca, such a great name and not heard as much these days amongst very young children

Hohofortherobbers · 31/01/2026 16:17

I like Sabrina, due a revival. Really dont like Violet much, such a harsh sound
