We are struggling to find first name for our baby boy we set on the middle name is George and our surname is Day I kinda want a unique first name, but I don’t know if that would go with her having such a traditional middle name. Need some help.

That is truely impressive.

It was a sad day when they removed that response. I used to use it a lot, and still miss it.

Only 42 were laughs. Most of my posts on that thread got responses. One got 7 laughs.

Ollie Day

I'd thought of Holly but Oliver hadn't registered. There is probably an Oliver Day out there.

Genius.

I like alliteration. How about Daithi, Digby, Deaclan, Donavan, Deacon, Dermot, Dexter, Darwin, Duncan, Dunstan, Dorian, Darcy?

some joke at Irish speech Not on my part, any more than Ben Day being a joke about NZ speech. They sound like Birthday and Bin day is most accents.

'Scuse you, you must be thinking of the Aussies with Bin Day. In a Kiwi accent, Ben Day would be more like Bun Day - a vast improvement; who doesn't love a bun?

I love your list, btw 😂

HugoYorway · 21/01/2026 12:26

@OtterlyAstounding , well the Ben I know is from NZ and he says it as Bin.

My real name rhymes with Ben but he says it to rhyme with Bin.

It's a tonic Gin

Reuben Day - a moment on the lips...

I think an a name would balance perfectly Alexander George or Albert George or Arthur George

HugoYorway · 24/01/2026 19:16

Farah
Michael Farah or Maxwell Farah even better
Max (no return within 24 hours)
Otis (since records began)
Travis (nuff said)

i have an Oliver and a Louis. Oliver may be popular but we haven’t met another in 7yrs!

HugoYorway · 25/01/2026 13:39

@sparklyblueberry2 , I don't think @paigeee will be calling her son Oliver or Louis. Did you read the OP?

sparklyblueberry2 · 25/01/2026 13:50

@HugoYorway well I haven’t met any other Oliver and Louis’ where I am so you can argue they are both unique and traditional for boys here. Better than some of your suggestions!
With all due respect the OP asked for suggestions of which these are just suggestions. I highly doubt you will be deciding for her!

MayeJane4 · 25/01/2026 14:54

Bloody love Oliver and Louis. Great names!

HugoYorway · 25/01/2026 15:24

@sparklyblueberry2 , the middle name will be George and Louis George is probably too 'royal'. Ollie Day is probably too jokey.
Neither is unique.

With all due respect, thousands of Olivers have been registered each year for the past 30 years, and OP said 'I kinda want a unique first name'.

Are you joking? I can’t believe tell…

HugoYorway · 25/01/2026 19:06

Travis. Not too unusual but not much used. No spelling or pronunciation issues.

Forget about the middle name and focus on a first name that goes with the surname. Middle names hardly ever get used.

Watch the initial.
D Day is OK, B Day isn't.

Edited

P Day isn't great either….

Most unusual or unique names are rare for good reason. George is a classic. The name doesn’t have to be top 100, but truly unique is often truly awful.
just go uncommon!

George is awful, though. Its popularity mystifies me.

I also find George pretty awful.

There are lots of underused lovely classic names outside the top 100.
