We've got three boys and not finding out the sex. So I might be back asking for boy name advice!
But for now here's our girl list
Primrose
Pearl
Keira
Emerald (maybe too unusual?) although we like Emmy
Maeve
Esme
Scarlet

Any views welcome!

Saoirse - spelling and pronunciation issues in mainland UK. Will be Sersha or See-uh-sha
Orla - will be Au-luh
Fiadh - Fear, Thea

Yeah I think I'm going to write those three names off. I might have to have a rethink and come up with a few new ones I think.

Is Maeve pronounced Mave?

Is Maeve pronounced Mave?

Yep

I’d say Mayve, rather than Mave to rhyme with have.
ETA rhymes with Dave or cave though!

If you want an Irish connection but not a very Irish name, could you use Cara? Means friend in Irish? And sounds similar to Ciara/Keira...

Out of your names, I like: Esme, Maeve, Daphne and Keira and quite like Scarlett though the 'scar' slightly puts me off.

I think I would feel awkward introducing myself as Primrose as it sounds twee to me, although I like Rose... not a fan of Pearl but I couldn't say why, maybe just because I've never known any so it reminds me of the shark from Spongebob!

I like Emerald, maybe a bit 'out there' but as you say, Emmy is a nice nickname. My dd gets Emmy sometimes as a nickname, only because her name begins with an M and it evolved from M to Emmy! Never predicted that when I was naming her

I love Pearl and Emerald! Particularly love the meaning behind the name Emerald to you and your husband- she could be an Emmy or Mel so options too. I heard a lovely Irish name years ago and I’m probably spelling it wrong bit think it was Finola….

I do quite like Cara, it's the name of a friend of my son's so I do associate it quite a lot with her. I'd also ideally rather avoid a C as we already have a C. I'm trying to avoid C, T or R.
That's one of the reasons I was considering Keira. Thanks for the suggestion though.
