We just can’t find a name we agree on 🤦‍♀️
our original name list:
Cass/Cassie
Juno
Nova
Maya
Remi
Kaia
Kali/Callie
Tess
Wren (ruled out as too popular)

We struggled with the name game while I was pregnant but were sort of half decided on thinking she’d be a Cass or a Kali but neither of them are settling well on her. OH LOVES Shea but only wants to spell it Che which is a hard no from me so back to the drawing board. I love Juno but he’s vetoing. We’ve been round and round in circles for what feels like forever. Please help, mumsnet hive mind! Open to any and all suggestions 🙏

Last name is one syllable, very standard (think Black/Jones/Smith).
I really like Annie (and Anna), as well as Alma and Alba but OH has said no to them all 😭 will suggest Astrid and see what he says! Both of us love the meaning and sound of Gaia but kids are awful and think it’ll just be relentlessly ‘you’re gayer than xyz’ when she reaches school age so it’s a no go. Nell has been my nickname since I was a kid (I’m an Ella) which isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker but still! Several of the names suggested on here are also already siblings’ names or middle names 😅 which on the plus side means MNers are good at suggesting names we’ll like!

Sylvie
Isla
Orla
Iris

I love Effie - I had a great aunt Effie and she was lovely. I love Famie (short for Euphemia) too, for similar reasons

RuthW · 25/11/2025 20:43

She looks like a Nova or Noa to me.

If you like Annie what about Annalise?

Ilovewheelychairs · 25/11/2025 20:45

meant to add…I’m a secondary school teacher and Maya/Mia/Mya - absolutely loads of them at the moment! So that would put me off. Never met a Wren yet.

Harvestmoons · 25/11/2025 20:52

Nova is lovely and Eden. What about Raine ?

She is gorgeous, congratulations

Freya

gillybombilly · 25/11/2025 20:56

Congratulations, your daughter is beautiful.

I came on to say Astrid but I’ve been beaten to it 😊

angelcake20 · 25/11/2025 20:57

Your original names are not at all my thing, but I would say don’t rush the decision. We chose in haste the day DD was born and neither us nor her particularly love her name. I wish we’d taken longer (though 20 years later I’m still not sure what we would have ended up with!).

PineConeOrDogPoo · 25/11/2025 20:58

Cassie

LotsOfSmallThings · 25/11/2025 20:58

Ok I’ve successfully been put off Maya given how many people know loads of them!
I already have an Orla so that’s out - great name though 😁
OH says no to Astrid, Ida, Ivy; I say no to Eden
Rain/Raine definitely has the right vibe! I also really like Autumn (and Winter for that matter) but last name is a colour so the combination just sounds like a paint name 🤦‍♀️

PInkyStarfish · 25/11/2025 20:59

I don’t like any of your names.

Erin
Eloise
Calliope and Cassie as a nick name.

friedeggrunny · 25/11/2025 21:00

Ottilie

Mogwais · 25/11/2025 21:00

I have an Annalise (Lissie ) only one in her entire school if looking for uncommon names.

Harvestmoons · 25/11/2025 21:01

Willow

HumphreyCobblers · 25/11/2025 21:03

You both like Gaia - use it! I think your fears of being laughed at for it are without foundation.

tortiecat · 25/11/2025 21:04

Oh Ella, she is beautiful - congratulations.

Don’t rush her name choice - you’ve got time.

Some ideas
Cora
Daphne
Persephone (nn Percy)

Lydia
Larissa

Quietwinglost · 25/11/2025 21:05

Might Hannah work instead of Anna?

Mskatonic · 25/11/2025 21:05

Neda?

hyggetyggedotorg · 25/11/2025 21:08

Delphi?

You know Nesta is a name? Very similar to Nessa which of course you can’t have because “ohh, what’s occurring”.

It feels as though Astra & Nessa aren’t a million miles away in terms of taste though. Vienna?

DRose3 · 25/11/2025 21:09

Juniper, Dahlia, Sky, Roxy (nn), Amity, Violet, Robin, Cordelia, Heidi, Bree (nn), Winnie (nn), Posey
