Emily Rose or Charlotte Rose

Rose is definitely going to be the middle name but I’m struggling to decide whether to go with Charlotte or Emily, I know both names are classic so you can’t really go wrong but I would appreciate your thoughts.

My name is Charlotte, so I'm probably biased, but I've always liked my name. 🙂

fairycupcakes · 16/10/2025 18:47

Charlotte! I adore the nn Lottie!

I am a massive horror film fan so the Exorcism of Emily Rose puts me off that option!

TheSharpOpalOrca · 16/10/2025 18:48

Charlotte Rose is classier.

Emily Rose is common and a very late 90s-2000s pairing imo

101Alsatians · 16/10/2025 18:49

Lovely names, but there's a certain movie that might make you regret Emily Rose...

HardyWeinbergEquation · 16/10/2025 18:49

I'm glad that we all seem to be in agreement so far!

Beat me to it 🫣🫣🫣
Thats the first place my brain went when I read “Emily Rose” 🥴🥴

Emanwenym · 16/10/2025 18:49

Rephrase it as 'Emily or Charlotte?'.
Rose as a middle name is so common that other Charlottes and Emilys will also be - Rose.

I prefer Charlotte, but which goes best with the surname?
If your surname is a common one, you run the risk of giving her a name that is duplicated.

101Alsatians · 16/10/2025 18:52

What about:
Elizabeth Rose
Heidi Rose
Amelia Rose
Ophelia Rose
Abigail Rose
Isabel Rose
Annabel Rose

Etc.
Edited as apparently I can't spell.

Charlotte Rose
Beautiful name!

IfHeWantedToHeWould · 16/10/2025 20:09

Agree about Rose being common, most girls have Rose as a middle name, it’s the Louise or Jane of its time. I prefer Emily though.

caringcarer · 16/10/2025 20:11

I like both of those names. Maybe choose one and keep other for a future DD.

Elephantangel1991 · 16/10/2025 20:53

I dislike the sound of the name Charlotte so I'd always go for Emily. You could do Emily with middle name Charlotte to avoid the film others have mentioned?

MummaR94 · 16/10/2025 21:17

Both lovely classic names, I would choose Charlotte rose but as another contender what about a slight variation such as Emily Primrose?

Calliopespa · 16/10/2025 21:35

I prefer Emily, but the Emily Rose thing is one a lot of people stub their toe on, so maybe Charlotte Rose - though I like the suggestion of Emily Primrose!

Also what about Eliza Rose? I think Eliza is slightly more elegant than Emily, though I love them both.

But its such a lovely middle name and sits so well with so many names.

Zanatdy · 17/10/2025 05:25

Charlotte

sharkstale · 17/10/2025 05:28

Both very overdone imo

But it's been so overused that it looks like a middle name for the sake of it.
It looks so unimaginative.

PurpleChrayn · 17/10/2025 08:36

Emily. Charlotte sounds like harlot.

Lemonadepie · 17/10/2025 08:44

Rose is THE most overused middle name…! Why not honour a family member with a more unusual name instead?

Both Emily and Charlotte are very popular too. Hopefully your surname is a little more unusual!

Nsky62 · 17/10/2025 10:58

Use Rose s main name

Iocanepowder · 17/10/2025 11:03

Came here to say Exorcism of Emily Rose

GiantYorkshirePud · 17/10/2025 11:08

Charlotte.

I have an 8 month DD named Charlotte, and Daisy is her middle name 😊

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 17/10/2025 14:02

Charlotte. It's a beautiful name.

I do like Emily too though. I love the traditional names. Far better than some ridiculously contrived names out there now!

If there is one type of name I really don't much like, it's the imajinatiff ones.

I love Rose - first or middle name.
