Emily Rose or Charlotte Rose

Rose is definitely going to be the middle name but I’m struggling to decide whether to go with Charlotte or Emily, I know both names are classic so you can’t really go wrong but I would appreciate your thoughts.

Not sure if anyone mentioned op, but those Lottie Brooks books have a Charlotte Rose. Not sure it's a problem, but thought may be relevant to mention.

If there is one type of name I really don't much like, it's the imajinatiff ones.

I love Rose - first or middle name.

There’s a huge difference between an overused unimaginative name like Emily Rose Smith and a made up name like Juunipa-Gracie-Unicorn!

Lots of beautiful and memorable names in between!

Marylou2 · 20/10/2025 10:37

Moira Rose?

Caleb64 · 20/10/2025 10:38

I like both but the film comes to mind immediately. Probably wouldn’t stop me using it though. Haven’t read all your responses but I think Rose is lovely on its own as well if it’s an option.

I've never liked Emily. I can't imagine a Prime Minister Emily - it's too frilly to be taken seriously. Charlotte is classic, and I love Rose. It's a timeless flower, ffs. There's a reason it's always been popular.

Not sure many could imagine a PM Keir or Boris 😂

SemmaLina · 20/10/2025 10:48

I like both Emily and Charlotte , but I’d go with Rosemary as the middle name

Emanwenym · 20/10/2025 10:54

@Calliopespa , but you could pick any middle name. Why pick one that will be almost every little Emily or Charlotte's middle name.

@AgentPidge , I can't imagine a Prime Minister Emily - it's too frilly to be taken seriously. Did you think we'd have a prime minister called Teresa or Rishi? I'm not keen on the name Emily but we have MPs called Emily.

Allswellthatendswelll · 20/10/2025 11:03

I think Rose is nice but very overdone middle name. If you do want it I think Charlotte Rose sounds nicer.

Tiswa · 20/10/2025 11:05

DS would have been Charlotte Rose (he has the make form) so that is the one I would go for

hattie43 · 20/10/2025 11:07

Amelia Rose

Well I'm sorry, but I like Rose.

Emanwenym · 20/10/2025 11:40

I don't like Rose as a middle name or first name. It's so nothingy.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 20/10/2025 12:05

Rose is beautiful. Use it if you want op. Charlotte Rose is probably the name I would choose if I was having a girl

Very true about Keir! But Boris had been angling for PM my whole lifetime so that felt inevitable.

Very true.
I like Emily Thornberry and have a lot of respect for her but she doesn't seem like an Emily to me!

Emanwenym · 20/10/2025 15:42

@AgentPidge , that's because she is referred to as 'Emily Thornberry'. There's an Emily Darlington too. Both have a soft sounding vowelly first name and a strong consonant-rich surname.

I think far too much emphasis is put on middle names on these threads.

MellowPinkDeer · 20/10/2025 15:47

Charlotte is nicer, I really dislike all the Rose / May etc middle name so wouldn’t use those unless a significant family connection.

Fairnair · 20/10/2025 16:36

I always said I would call a daughter Isabella Rose, just thought it sounded pretty. Ophelia Rose would be nice to.

Charlotte & Emily are both names I like, but would avoid for the reasons previous posters have said regarding film & book references.

My middle name is Louise which loads of women around my age mid fifties seem to have.
