Hi everyone,
Currently 35 weeks pregnant with a girl, we already have a son but stuck on a name and feeling very stressed.

It needs to be something that is not too common but equally not so unusual that no one has ever heard of it before or a "made up name". Definitely asking for the only child in their class/year group with that name.

On our list so far are the following but I'm not sold on any, so similar names welcomed:

  • Eden
  • Romy/Romilly
  • Hallie
  • Noa
  • Juno
  • Nova
  • Kaia

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

I really like Kaia x

LilacPony · 04/08/2025 21:09

I love Kaia.
Sasha
Cleo
Sophie Sophia
Neve
Amal

(There’s 3 Hallies in my sons class and I know of 2 others at the school)

dontcomeatme · 04/08/2025 21:09

Hallie is gorgeous 🥰

LuckyNumberFive · 04/08/2025 21:13

Hallie is no. 50 in the most common baby names of 2025 so far according to baby centre UK.
Eden is 57th.
Nova sounds chavvy but is also 76th on the list.
All 3 of those you might struggle being the only one in the year group.

Kaia reminds me of Kai which was a very common boys name when my first was born. I lived in a dodgy area though so it was also quite a chavvy name. Don't know if that's particularly representative of the name though.

Romy feels very American.
Juno is a well known film about a teen pregnancy.
Noa will forever be assumed male until you meet her.

Cara / Kara

UninterestedBeing12 · 04/08/2025 21:18

Id think twice about Nova.

That was the name of the music festival that was involved in the 7th October massacre in Israel. Given it was very recent, I really wouldn't.

Noa is about the only one I like.

They're all a bit new age and very, in the moment, the rest.

I prefer old classics that won't date and are always used but to each their own.

manicpixieschemegirl · 04/08/2025 21:27

Noa is lovely.

Love Hallie, can’t stand Nova. I think Romy is becoming quite popular.

imokithink · 04/08/2025 21:32

My daughter is Juno, I love it!

I also like Romy.

Other names I like are Stella, Elliott (think this is so nice for a girl), Jessa

Moreteaandchocolate · 04/08/2025 21:50

I love Kaia!
Romy and Hallie are lovely too. Eden is quite nice.

There might not be many little Noas at school, but there will definitely be a lot of little Noahs!

Some ideas...
Aphra
Zelda
Vita
Glenda
Hester

Wistfullysleepy · 04/08/2025 22:15

Nova made me think of the massacre too.

StrawberryCranberry · 04/08/2025 22:19

Of your list, I like Eden (nickname Edie) and Kaia best.

Mumofgirls2017 · 04/08/2025 22:38

Willow?

Baby names in England and Wales: 2024 - Office for National Statistics
Download the list and look at Table 6.

Bear in mind that names tend to get shortened, so although Tilly-Mai may be almost unique, there may be several Matildas, leading to several Tillys.

Names vary by area and culture, so you might end up with your DD being only one of two registered that year both in the same school class.

LivingTheDreamish · 05/08/2025 05:45

I like Romy and Juno from your list. How about:

Alba
Hebe

MiddleAgedDread · 05/08/2025 16:17

I'm not keen on any of them I'm afraid!
Eden is bearable and Eddie is cute as a nn.
Romilly is a not particularly nice suburb of Stockport so I'd swerve that one!
Romy.....I'm never sure how to pronounce it, is it Roamy or Romm-ie?

Emanwenym · 05/08/2025 16:26

Eden will be Edie not Eddie.
Romilly is a not particularly nice suburb of Stockport so I'd swerve that one! Quite.

KayEmAy · 05/08/2025 19:21

I have a Primrose - not massively uncommon but we are always complimented on it as it’s not heard too often where we are
