Henrietta (Hetty for short) - too long, too masculine sounding and Harriet already better
Larissa - it has dated feel, what would be nicknames? Lara and Rissa not nice imo
Athena - it's fine, it's becoming more mainstream, but to me this is only the goddess, kinda like 'one person name'
Alice - love it, but became kinda trendy recently
Aurora - popular, trendy, but I love it, I think it's usable, but hard to pronounce for some
Gaia - names ending with -aia sound and being two syllable short names already kinda trendy, don't like associations with these names

Emanwenym · 23/07/2025 20:12

Yes - Alice, Harriet (Hattie)

Not keen:
Larissa
Henrietta (Hetty for short)
Aurora
Gaia

Don't like:
Aurora

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/07/2025 20:27

Of your options my favourite is Athena. I dont like Gaia or Larissa

Zov · 23/07/2025 20:32

I don't like any of them. (Sorry.) At a push - out of all those - I would pick Henrietta, as I like the shortened version (Hettie.)

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 23/07/2025 20:41

Really love: Henrietta, Athena and Alice. Fabulous names!

TheeNotoriousPIG · 23/07/2025 20:48

I have an Alice. A number of people's first impressions have included smirks, digs and, "Who the f* is Alice?" 🙄However, it works in the languages that I wanted and people can't put '-ie' on the end of it, as they do with my choices of one-syllable names. Regardless, I still love the name (and my Alice)!

I do quite like Aurora, though!

LlynTegid · 23/07/2025 20:50

Alice is the only one I would consider. It's long enough since the Roy Chubby Brown version of Living Next Door to Alice such that unfair name calling would not happen.

Firsttimebabymummy · 23/07/2025 20:51

Henrietta is my favourite, I love it! I was friends with a Hetty growing up and people always made lovely comments about her name. It's on my future list.

Alice is nice, though I know lots. Not keen kn the others.

SettleDownATouch · 23/07/2025 20:52

Love Henrietta the most, but would shorten to Etta rather than Hettie.

Failingatadulting · 23/07/2025 20:53

Henrietta (Hetty for short) - I really like this. I only know one (she's 18), everyone calls her Hettie and she rocks it

Larissa - not a fan, think it's the Lar at the start. Would it be shortened to Larry?

Athena - its ok, a strong name

Alice - i like it alot but prefer as a middle name

Aurora - i know quite a few and feel like none of them suit there name so to me its a hard to pull off name. Also the teenageobe i know absolutely hates her name and wants to change it

Gaia - OK, just not my style

Moveoverdarlin · 23/07/2025 20:54

Henrietta (Hetty for short) - 1970s posh girl
Larissa - pole dancer
Athena - really nice
Alice - lovely
Aurora - chavvy
Gaia - Sounds like gay

Love Henrietta the most, but would shorten to Etta rather than Hettie.

Etta is a very cute alternative!
My friends little sister called her Ree-Ree. Henrietta has some lovely nn options.

ByLimeAnt · 23/07/2025 20:56

Not terribly keen on any, maybe Alice?

Athena just makes me think of buying black and white posters in 1995.

Needmorelego · 23/07/2025 20:57

I ♥️ Alice. One of my favourite names.
Athena unfortunately I always pronounce as "Afeena". I'm not very good with Th names (Theo = Feeoh etc😂) but that's just me.
I like Hetty but not Henrietta. Hetty feels like it should be short for something but you could probably use it on its own.

AcquadiP · 23/07/2025 20:58

Aurora is a lovely name, not keen on the rest.

LuckyNumberFive · 23/07/2025 20:58

I've always loved Alice.

Can't stand the rest, sorry.

Cheeseplantandcrackers · 23/07/2025 21:01

Alice is the only one that I like.

Larissa is the most awful.

SemperIdem · 23/07/2025 21:05

Henrietta is dreadful, truly.

The rest are all nice. I would say Larissa sits alongside Carissa, Marissa and Melissa well Like the others it feels very American, which is perhaps unfair considering all of the names are European in origin.

OopsieeDaisy · 23/07/2025 21:07

Alice is lovely. I really like Hettie but less keen on the full name Henrietta. I also love Harriet nn Hattie. I’m not too keen on the others.

AdaColeman · 23/07/2025 21:21

I like Henrietta, Alice and Gaia.
I prefer Clarissa to Larissa as I think it has a softer sound than the quite harsh Larissa.
I think Athena and Aurora would make better middle names than first names.

I'm a fan of Etta James, what a voice!

Though her real name was Jamesetta, not Henrietta.

CarpetKnees · 23/07/2025 21:30

Alice is okayish.

Don't like any of the others.

Mumofgirls2017 · 23/07/2025 21:52

Henrietta (Hetty for short)- like a lot, prefer Etta for nn
Larissa- not for me
Athena- love
Alice- love
Aurora- lovvvve
Gaia- not for me

ninjahamster · 23/07/2025 22:01

Love Henrietta and Alice.

TheyFuckYouUpYourMamAndDad · 23/07/2025 22:05

Alice is lovely.

I have a Hettie (with an ‘ie’) in my class who is gorgeous so I may be biased 😍 Love this name. It stands well enough on its own to not bother with Henrietta, which is a bit of a mouthful.

None of the others resonate, sorry.
