Am stuck at home on rainy bank holiday mulling over names and feeling pants so thought would turn to your wisdoms....For a wee lass: Freya (seems v.popular at mo), Poppy or Saffron?
For a lad: Kai, Sam, Roan or....any other suggestions? Feedback welcome. Thanks!!!!

Like Freya & Poppy also think Roan is great

learningallthetime · 26/05/2008 20:39

Saffron is a beautiful name.

Not really sure about the boys names.

mamamira · 26/05/2008 20:40

Freya is nice

Poppy and Saffron OK

Kai is horrible (sorry)

I quite like Rohan. Sam - OK.

cornsilk · 26/05/2008 20:41

Poppy is lovely.
Not Kai, Sam okay as is Roan.

dizzydixies · 26/05/2008 20:45

Roan is lovely, was one of top two had dd2 been a ds

Kai not to my taste

Sam fine if a little 'safe'

Freya nice

Poppy and Saffron both ok

I like Rowan - never seen it spelled Roan. Is it pronounced the same, or does it rhyme with Joan?

I also like Freya. It is very popular, but that wouldn't stop me using a name I like though.

dizzydixies · 26/05/2008 20:48

aero Roan is the irish version

more like Row (as in boat) an if that makes sense? not as short as Joan although I could be wrong

pootleflump · 26/05/2008 20:51

I love Poppy, we'll be using it if this baby is a girl. Freya is lovely too. Saffron is alright.

Not keen on your boys names but can't help either as I'm really stuck for those. It'll be something more common though, like Jack, George, Callum, Henry, James etc.

WellyBelly · 26/05/2008 20:57

Thanks for the input....gr8 to get some impartial advice

i like roan & saffron is great

janeite · 26/05/2008 21:11

Rowan - lovely, but spelled with the "w" as in the tree. Sam = nice, inoffensive but doesn't really "sing" to me. Kai - I really don't like this one.

Poppy - lovely. Saffron isn't my cup of tea but it is pretty; better as a middle name imho.

DonutMum · 26/05/2008 21:34

Hiya. Like Roan. Think Kai is a bit chav tbh. Or a dog's name. Sorry.

Like Saffron but it's a bit Boden catalogue - nothing wring with that though. How about Imogen?

WellyBelly · 26/05/2008 21:37

He he. No apolgies needed. Made me laugh. Like Imogen but dp doesnt sadly.

Isn't the weather awful? It's peeing down here....

Freya - lovely. Strong but feminine.
Poppy - isn't this the name of Jamie Oliver's little girl? Like it though.
Saffron - reminds me of a small town near where I grow up... but I love it. Again strong but exotic too.

Kai - sorry but I'm not sure about this... I knew a dog called Kai.
Sam - nice. A friendly name.
Roan - not sure.

Mavornia · 26/05/2008 21:59

I like Poppy best of your girls' names suggestions - very sweet

None of your boys' names jump out at me

What about Luke/Lucas, Greer, Micah or Bram?

pootleflump · 27/05/2008 23:39

Lol! Sorry Lapin, it should really have been 'something nicer, normal common...'

spareparts · 27/05/2008 23:42

Hi, I like Freya, Poppy and Roan (although I prefer Rowan or Rohan).

Nancy66 · 28/05/2008 11:42

I like Poppy - very cute.
Not mad on the boy's names. Sam is ok but a bit ordinary...Kai is just horrible.

Pinkjenny · 28/05/2008 11:46

I really love Poppy and Saffron. Dh vetoed Poppy as he said it was a bit too 'flaky', wtf! I loved it.

JessJess3908 · 28/05/2008 16:25

I am unable to form opinions on boy's names.

All the girl's names are lovely. Freya and Poppy are nearly tied in popularity on the list for england and wales. Saffron (Saffy for short?)doesn't make the top 100 list which might make it a better choice if you're worried about names being too popular.

I had my heart set on Emily before i saw this list...

WellyBelly · 30/05/2008 10:54

Thanks for all the suggestions....I think Kai if off the agenda now, unless I get a labrador .
Jessjess I think Emily is really pretty....

I think your girl name choices are lovely. I especially like poppy. DD has a friend called Saffron and it suts her; has grown on me a lot.

For your boys list I only like Sam really, and would go with Samuel as full name.

Pinkchampagne · 30/05/2008 11:54

I like Poppy best out of your girl names. DS2 would have been a Poppy if he had been a girl.
Like Sam best out of your boy choices. Don't like kai at all though I'm afraid.
