I love Adelaide and Mabel (but Adelaide is my favourite)
Don’t call her Mair unless you’re in Wales because people won’t say it properly and she’ll be called “Mare” all her life!

I like Kellan for a boy but not keen on the others sorry

Emanwenym · 13/07/2025 20:32

Adelaide/Addie - no
Everly - dislike
Indie - dislike
Mabel - not keen
Mair - only if in a Welsh-speaking area. It will get Mare or My-uh otherwise. It's a beautiful name.
Roni - like. Veronica?

Atticus - no
Austin - ok
Kellan - no
Kyran - no
Koa - no
Nolan - no

chicke09 · 13/07/2025 20:32

Indie for a girl. Not keen on any of the boy names.

strawberrywishes · 13/07/2025 20:59

Your girls names are all quite common where I'm from, which I think is fine but you mentioned you don't want anything too popular, the only one that I have never met a few of is Adelaide. My favourite from your boys list is Atticus.
some suggestions
Evelyn, Eleanor, Josephine, Elodie, Corrine, Rosalie.
Atlas, August, Cassian, Everett, Elias.

Inthesmallclouds · 13/07/2025 21:13

Love Adelaide and nn

Failingatadulting · 13/07/2025 21:23

Adelaide - beautiful name and also love Addie. I've only ever met one (a 7 year old). I also really love Adeline but since Adelaide is a family name I'd 100% choose it

Everly - it's OK, a bit trendy / of its era

Indie - i know 2 young Indie's (one Indiana and one India) i really like Indie but not as keen on the longer names and personally would choose it as a formal name. Prefer Indiana to India or Indigo

Mabel - pretty, though quite popular over the last few years

Mair - not a fan personally.

Roni - I quite like Ronnie as a nickname for Veronica but I wouldn't use it as a standalone name. People would probably always assume boy before meeting her as names that end in ie sound as so popular for boys at the minute.

Atticus - I really like Atticus and I don't think it's as outthere as it once was. My favourite of your choices

Austin - not a fan. I automatically think Austin Powers, and whilst im sure yiur sons cohort wouldnt, it just means i dont have a positive association with the name personally

Kellan - ok, a bit meh

Kyran - i quite like it, but letter y's in the midfle of names can be viewed as quite downmarket

Koa - will always be misheard as Noah as they are everywhere

Nolan - nice, buy i much prefer Atticus.

Amyjade2022 · 13/07/2025 21:31

Indie or Nolan for me

dontcomeatme · 13/07/2025 21:35

Adelaide and Nolan

ninjahamster · 13/07/2025 21:37

I love Mabel. Not keen on any of the others, sorry.

I don't like any of your girls names. Mabel is particularly bad. If i had to choose I'd go for Adelaide.

You've got a mix of new age and old names for boys. I'd only choose Nolan from that list.

We are in Wales but that’s something to bear in mind if she moves/travels etc , thank you.

Adelaide is beautiful but I’m not sure about Addie as a nn, and Indie is nice. I’m not keen on any of the others.

Koa is the only one of your boy’s names I like. Nolan is particularly awful.

Firsttimebabymummy · 13/07/2025 22:01

Girls
Adelaide - family name, would call her Addie- really like! Favourite of your girls.
Everly - not keen. We have lots at nursery.
Indie - not sure about this one.. I love it but would prefer a longer name and use this as a nickname. I like this but don't love.
Mabel- too trendy, I know lots of little Mabel babies / puppies recently.
Mair - no.
Roni - for a family member - no.

Boys
Atticus - my favourite of your boys names.
Austin - no
Kellan - no
Kyran -no
Koa- no
Nolan - 2nd choice.

BootballJoy · 13/07/2025 22:01

I like Adelaide and Mabel from the girls' names.

Not too keen on the boys' but would probably go for Atticus from the list. Prefer Atlas.

Moreteaandchocolate · 13/07/2025 22:04

Adelaide - love Addie as a nn (prefer Adeline as the full name)
Everly - not too keen
Indie - I like as a nn but I’m not sure what for? Not keen on India / Indigo. Rosalind nn Indie?
Mabel - love this!
Mair - not keen personally
Roni - dislike

Boys
Atticus - not keen
Austin - ok
Kellan - like
Kyran - ok
Koa - ok
Nolan - a skip company near me

I would choose Mabel and Kellan.

Ikeameatballs · 13/07/2025 22:12

I love Adelaide and like Mabel; which one to go for would depend on middle name choices and flow with your surname.

I like Atticus and Austin but really love Kellan from your list, it’s unusual but not odd and easy to spell/pronounce which makes it the winner for me!

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/07/2025 07:54

Like Mabel, Atticus and Austin

user1492757084 · 14/07/2025 08:08

Inspired from your list I like ...
Adele
Adelaide
Mariella
Mary
Keith
Kelso
Austin
Angus

justaddittothelist · 14/07/2025 08:19

I like Indi and Koa best.

How do you pronounce Mair? I'm Scottish and am not familiar with it.

Emanwenym · 14/07/2025 09:17

@justaddittothelist , No idea how OP says it but it's the Welsh form of Mary/Maria. It is pronounced like Myra without the a. Like My but with a rhotic r on the end.

Mair is also a surname (rhymes with Blair).

LadyQuackBeth · 14/07/2025 11:11

Adelaide is really nice, I also think Roni is a nice NN for a girl (although I don't like Veronica - Bronwyn)?

Mabel is extremely popular with dogs, I don't know if that kind of popularity would bother you.

I don't like Kyran at all, it looks a bit too much like a unique spelling of Keiran. Austin and Nolan are nicest.

Emanwenym · 14/07/2025 11:33

@LadyQuackBeth , Bronwyn is awful. It's a bad spelling of Bronwen, the -wyn part is masculine.

justaddittothelist · 14/07/2025 16:27

Emanwenym · 14/07/2025 09:17

Aw I quite like that!

Thanks @Emanwenym

Emanwenym · 14/07/2025 18:19

It's lovely, @justaddittothelist , but those who don't speak Welsh tend to say the r as uh, so it would get mixed up wth Maya.

Mari ('marry') is also a Welsh form of Mary, but people tend to lengthen the a (ma-ree) or say Marie.

Hence the only if Welsh comment.Smile

SpikeGilesSandwich · 14/07/2025 18:48

I’d choose Mabel and Austin from those lists, not too keen on the others but that’s of no concern to you. Choose something you love and also sounds good with your surname.
