Angelina - I didn't get many responses and am still debating

reminds me too much of Angelina Jolie - which isn't a good thing

PenelopePitstops · 26/05/2008 10:19

ballerina

Teuch · 26/05/2008 10:19

Very 'of its time' because of the popularity of Angelina Jolie.

And you will get Angie, so you need to decide whether you like it shortened.

piratecat · 26/05/2008 10:20

a pretty name, but ballerina and Jolie sprang to my mind too.

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 10:24

don't mind either connotation ( a legendary beauty and a ballerina LOL) at all - it is a family name and goes v well with my surname I just wondered if people thought it was pretty and feminine like I do....

Teuch · 26/05/2008 10:27

Okaaaaaaay...you think it is pretty and feminine, you aren't put off by the obvious connotations, it's a family name, goes well with surname...

Surely the real question is not whether we like it, but whether your partner likes it!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/05/2008 10:27

Not for me, sorry.

Are you debating between this and something else?

learningallthetime · 26/05/2008 10:29

Sounds like you really like it, and it has a family background which is really nice .. IMO you should def. use it.

It is femimine and pretty

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 10:41

thanks all, DH loves it I guess I have made up my mind LOL

I just wondered if anyone thought it was really horrid and a no-no in whish case I would perhaps re-consider
xx

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 26/05/2008 10:48

Oh I certainly wouldn't say it was really horrid, even though it's not to my taste.

SSSandy2 · 26/05/2008 10:50

The name itself is alright, it's just I can't stand Angelina Jolie. So I would never use it myself.

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 10:51

wow the angelina jolie connection is v strong!

OP posts:
GrimmaTheNome · 26/05/2008 10:52

Too many syllables. Bound to get shortened - I suppose you could try to make it Lina rather than Angie.

Twinkie1 · 26/05/2008 10:55

Yuck!

Thought of Ballerina first and then the slut who stole poor Jen's husband!

janeite · 26/05/2008 11:00

I don't like it at all sorry - too many mouse connections for my liking. And not a v pretty name anyway - does DH love it BECAUSE of the Angelina Jolie connection?!!!

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 11:00

twinkie that is lovely thank you.

OP posts:
Twinkie1 · 26/05/2008 11:02

You want to hope that she doesn't look at all mousey too!

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 11:04

oh you get better my sides are splitting - any more?

OP posts:
janeite · 26/05/2008 11:05

LOVE your name though, Crushwitheyeliner. It makes you sound like a fab 1980s girlband. Very cool indeed.

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 11:14

mousy looking kids...hmmmmmmmmmmmm

OP posts:
Rachmumoftwo · 26/05/2008 11:15

I love it, and would happily name a child of mine after a beautiful (if slightly mad) woman and a dancing mouse! Mine are named after a river (or airport) and the drunken wife of a Welsh poet, but I love the names and that is what matters.

CrushWithEyeliner · 26/05/2008 11:16

thanks rach

OP posts:
ipanemagirl · 26/05/2008 11:26

It is a pretty name but I would be uneasy about people thinking it was a tribute to La Jolie who I find slightly nauseating.

Teuch · 26/05/2008 11:30

Just use it if you and your DH love it...

No point in getting shirty when posters are honest!

SylvieBruno · 26/05/2008 11:34

I don't like it at all. It's too much, it's got a a hint of star-struckedness about it.

Twinkie1, ha ha! She maybe helping starvign children in Africa, but that's more or less how I'll always see her too.

Angel, although a boy's name, would be less saccharine imo.

If you like Angelina Ballerina names, what about Alice!
