My 19 DD’s name is on there, one of the more unusual ones that you only see rarely.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 24/06/2025 06:59

Better than Oliver and Amelia!

Barneyvelda · 24/06/2025 07:05

I agree with others - some lovely names - I think my favourites are Agatha, Corinne and Jane.

whatsyournickname · 24/06/2025 07:06

That looks like a list of all my friends!😂

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/06/2025 07:11

We've got a cat called Sybil - but she's 14 now so maybe the name was more popular in 2011? 🤣

828Pax · 24/06/2025 11:37

Suprised to see my daughters on there! It's always been a popular Welsh name, not so much now then I guess!

Emanwenym · 24/06/2025 13:31

Thanks, @TheDonsDingleberries .

@828Pax , The name not being used much is a bit misleading, because the number of Welsh-speaking parents or parents wanting to use a Welsh name will be relatively small.

Seren is missing from the list. I'm guessing your DD's name is on that top 10.

Spidey66 · 24/06/2025 13:36

My name’s on that list but it’s a name common in the 60s when I was born. I was surprised by some, like Rhiannon, Kate and Carys but maybe Cerys is more popular? In my defence I’m not Welsh and not sure of the correct/more common spelling.

Emanwenym · 24/06/2025 17:29

@Spidey66 , Carys and Cerys were very popular in the 1960s. Carys was very popular in North Wales. I can't imagine a baby one now. It would be like naming a baby Karen or Tracey. Rhiannon was popular in the 1940s.

I suspect that Carys, Ffion, Eleri and Rhiannon appeal to parents wanting a Welsh name. They sound like names of my schoolfriends not today's babies.

HubbleBubbles · 25/06/2025 09:47

My name is on there, I always think Victorian scullery maid 😄 never met another one, of any age!

I love the name Rhiannon! My (imaginary) daughter would have been that or Eleanor,

Love this resource!

My daughter's name (Enid) fits the criteria but isn't there, though many we considered for her are (Hester, Ingrid, Sybil, Frida, Ursula).
