What do you think of the name Mack?

I haven’t really heard of it before the tv show Molly and Mack, is it a name on its own? I like it but don’t want to be too out there. Just thought it might make a change from Jack. Or no?

For a scottie dog or a westie... or any of the other scottish/boarder terrier breeds - Yes.

For a child...No

But that’s not always true - it only takes granny to
hearvthe name and make an unfortunate comment and all the chikdren on the street are yelling it

it’s a 1928 song - more my grans generation than mine yet many here have still heard it

Yes, I was about to say, Mack the Knife is hardly a “people over 50” reference - it’s been going strong for a century! I think it’s here to stay. Mind you, the only Mack I’ve known (nickname for his middle name, which was a Mc surname), used to sing it as his theme song at karaoke.

It sounds like a nickname given to an adult man whose surname starts Mac/Mc rather than a proper forename.
