I agree

Pennyplant19 · 13/05/2025 22:29

I think Italians use it when they are thinking things over…..

xmasdealhunter · 13/05/2025 22:30

I prefer the spelling Elora. In terms of middle names:

Alora/Elora Jade
Alora/Elora Grace
Alora/Elora May
Alora/Elora Quinn

HugoYorway · 13/05/2025 22:30

Home - Atora and Flora combined.

Banmooo · 13/05/2025 22:31

Allora is an Italian filler word, it means well, so, then, and um.

Really bad as a name

tougholdbirdy · 13/05/2025 22:31

Suet

Salmonisthebestfish · 13/05/2025 22:32

It makes me think of Harry Potter - isn’t there a spell “alohamora” or something?

it’s a no from me.

tougholdbirdy · 13/05/2025 22:31

Suet

Nope - that’s Atora

TaggieO · 13/05/2025 22:33

oh God no! Alora is basically the Italian for “um”.

Salmonisthebestfish · 13/05/2025 22:33

Alora means “the lord is my light”

PrettyPuss · 13/05/2025 22:34

I wouldn’t. There are thousands of nicer names out there .

ZepherinDrouhin · 13/05/2025 22:35

Awful, I think you can choose a better name.

Chazbots · 13/05/2025 22:35

Model of caravan....no, not quite, it's a motorhome model by Bailey!

rosyvalentine · 13/05/2025 22:36

First thing I thought of was margarine. Sorry! 😬

AubernFable · 13/05/2025 22:36

I don’t like it at all personally, I think the root name Eleanor is much prettier. It’s a bit new-age made up for my tastes.

Ooh I think Flora is such a beautiful name, has a similar sound too.

MelliC · 13/05/2025 22:37

Allora is Italian for "so" or "well then" or "right".
As in "right, shall we go then?"

Give the poor child a proper name!

Eleanor isn’t the root name. Eliora Is.

Alora means “the lord is my light”

In what language?

If you mean Hebrew, “El” is the usual name element for the Lord, and “Or” for light. So “Eliora” or “Elora” could represent the meaning you are looking for, but as others have said “Alora” just looks like a misspelling of the Italian filler word Allora.

Gloschick · 13/05/2025 22:40

It makes me think of Allora too. Elora would be better. Elora seems to autocorrect to Flora though which might be annoying (although Flora might be a good alternative!)
