My last post I got so much negative feedback on the Scandinavian name we had picked which was Tuva.

my husband is born and bred Scandinavian so it’s been hard to choose a name for our second ( who is Kasper Snow)

my husbands favourite is Kaia Summer however in due in 3 weeks so would like other opinions on the other options we like.

Kaia Hazel
Kaia Summer
Sylvie Luna
Sylvie Hazel
Sylvie Summer

yes I realize Kaia Summer will be the same initials. Happy for people’s opinion on this 😊 they will be 3 years apart.

we do want a third child, however my husband thinks we should just go with whatever name we like best, the initials being the same wouldn’t be intentional.

we are in Australia so would appreciate feedback from aussies/nz - as seems like there is a bit of a cultural different with names when reading comments from people in the UK!!

Sylvie Luna or Sylvie Hazel are lovely.

Maxorias · 03/05/2025 05:29

I really like Kasper !

I prefer Kaia to Sylvie, but this may be cultural - in my country Sylvie is a bit of a granny name.

As for the middle name, if you son's is Snow I immediately thought of Winter. As far as nature names go I also like Wren (I think it's unisex ?)

Other scandi names I like : Solveig, Sigrid

wandawaves · 03/05/2025 06:24

I'm in Australia. 😀

Kaia Hazel is my favourite by far.
Kaia Summer is too matchy to Kasper Snow.
Sylvie is ok, a bit old ladyish but not too bad. I really don't like Sylvie Summer though.

MrsH26 · 03/05/2025 06:41

@Freya2456 keep Tuva if you and DH love it! You don’t have to please other people 😊

MissedItByThisMuch · 03/05/2025 06:50

I’m Australian - I love love love Sylvie. Sylvie Hazel is my favourite of your options but any would work fine, but Kaia would work well too.

But honestly if you love Tuva and it’s meaningful for you and your husband you should use it. Don’t let a bunch of random anonymous people largely from the other side of the world put you off!

CalypsoCuthbertson · 03/05/2025 06:51

Sylvie Luna is pretty and a nice white/silver theme with your son’s name.

I don’t think matching initials would matter - it could be a sweet bond between them.

Tuva is nice too!

Tbrh · 03/05/2025 06:55

Kaia Sunmer goes well with Kasper Snow. I also feel Sylvie is an old ladies name

Anniesgal · 03/05/2025 07:04

Kaia Summer is lovely

Moreteaandchocolate · 03/05/2025 07:23

I like Kaia and Sylvie. I don't like any of the other names.

So - Kaia Sylvie.

user1492757084 · 03/05/2025 08:28

Kaia Summer is my pick from your list.
Kasper Snow is handsome.

Ideas ..
Ingrid Acacia
Acacia Tuva
Maxima Hazel
Myuna Blossom
Anneke Summer

Leeloo1233 · 03/05/2025 08:59

Please don't let MN change your mind about Tuva. It's really cool, I'm Scandinavian married to an English guy and we didn't use Alma since it was considered too granny for most people here and now it's super fashionable! A big regret! If it was up to MN I would have to name my kids Elizabeth and James 🙄

Lily Collins named her dd after Tove Jansson and they are both American and for sure people will wonder about the name, but they loved it!

Emanwenym · 03/05/2025 10:08

Kaia's nice but Sylvie seems grannyish an not in a good way.
The only one of the middle names I like is Hazel.

Emanwenym · 03/05/2025 10:10

I's use Tuva as a first name or middle name.

Yogaandchocolate · 03/05/2025 10:12

When I was scrolling down MN and saw Kaia Summer my brain autocorrected it to Keir Starmer, just saying!

I like Tuva and Sylvie

CurlySueAndBillToo · 03/05/2025 10:17

From experience, don’t do the same initials, it’s horrible to grow up with and lacks individuality. Also really annoying with letters etc.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 03/05/2025 10:18

Kaia Summer ☀️

Firsttimebabymummy · 03/05/2025 10:22

Moreteaandchocolate · 03/05/2025 07:23

Kaia Summer or Kaia Hazel are my favourites - both are lovely!

Agree with this! Summer is lovely!

Would also agree with PP on using Tuva though if your heart was set on it.

MaggieBsBoat · 03/05/2025 10:23

Goodness Tuva is so so so much better than any of those first names.

BootballJoy · 03/05/2025 12:21

Tuva Summer or Tuva Sylvie

Snailiewhalie · 04/05/2025 07:33

If Tuva is your favourite go with that.

LilyJosephine · 04/05/2025 13:10

Not Aussie but I think Tuva is fine if you have Scandi heritage and works well with Kasper. It’s short, simple and I can’t see anything wrong with it?

However this one is really tough for me as while I generally think Kaia is a bit “celeb wannabe” sounding as it makes me think of the model/actress- I have to admit I think as a sibset Kaia Summer and Kasper Snow is just so cute 🤣 . However one of my favourite names is Sylvie as it’s just so pretty sounding and the alliteration of Sylvie Summer is fab - so overall as a standalone name (not taking her brothers name into account) that one would be my fave.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 04/05/2025 13:45

Sylvie Luna or Hazel.

Norastroud · 04/05/2025 20:09

Please choose the name you love the best, Tuva is a beautiful name with a great meaning and lovely to reflect Scandi heritage. Kaia and Sylvie are equally lovely names. Try saying all three out loud to see which you like saying best - maybe involve your son too - I like Summer as a middle name to match your sons!
