I think definitely Lucy. Lovely name and I think of Narnia and Lucy Honeychurch.

Snap! Exactly what I think of!!

I love Lucy - maybe would go for Lucia or Lucinda on BC.

My name is Jennifer and I hate Jenny with a passion. Such a dull, mindless name. I can only hear it in a Forrest Gump voice too. I don’t like Jennifer either though and just about think Jen is ok.

Lucy feels timeless to me as well whereas I only know Jennifers/Jennys who are 30-40. Don’t do it!

CherryVanillaPie · 04/05/2025 00:07

I like both

I’m afraid I agree with this.

Im not sure why: it shoujd be quite sweet but just somehow isn’t.

OP would you consider Genevieve, and Genny as a nickname? I still prefer Lucy but think Genevieve is prettier than Jennifer.

2chocolateoranges · 04/05/2025 00:16

I prefer Lucy for me Jenny is a nickname for Jenna or Jennifer.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/05/2025 08:10

Jenny. Possibly as a pet name for Jennifer, Jenna or Genevieve.

Lucy is very popular.

Same. I can only tolerate being called Jen.
If anyone calls me Jennifer it makes my skin crawl. I think it stems from when I was little. I had this really strict teacher who used to emphasise the "fer" on the end so it sounded like "Jenny...then a pause...and then "FER"' at which point she would shower me with spit when she prounced the "fff" sound.

Lucy

preimenopauserulesmylife · 04/05/2025 08:20

Definitely Lucy.
The name of my angel baby from 2007.

I know a Wren. Actual name is Jenny but childhood nickname was Jenny Wren, which evolved to Wren as a teen and just stuck.

Your teacher sounds awful!

I occasionally get called Jennifer at work when people see my name on Teams but don’t know me. I have to hide the scowl when they do it. It’s just a horrible name and I don’t know why my parents subjected me to it. Found out quite recently that my dad didn’t particularly like the name either but went with what my mum wanted. 😂

I’ve always loved the name Jenny. It helps that all the people I know with that name are really lovely!

KayEmAy · 06/06/2025 19:00

I love Jenny

Straightomyhead · 06/06/2025 19:13

This is so strange, my two old housemates were Jenny and Lucy. Love both the names.
