We have finally come to a name for daughter number 2 that we both think we like. What’s the general feeling about Penelope Iris? Iris is after my mum so that’s set but wondering about Penelope. She would probs go by Penny or Pen or Nell or something day to day. Partner has always loved Persephone and I just can’t get on board with it but Penelope is definitely growing on us. Awful or not?

Penelope Iris is really pretty. I know a 7 year old Penelope who goes by Penny day to day.

Penny is quite twee I think. Nell is cool.

She’ll be double barrelled like her sister so it’s H-S. That’s what I’ve always been unsure about, a long first name with a double barrelled name may make her sound like a bit of a twat 😂. Thanks for the feedback so far everyone!

Penelope is lovely and fairly popular. There’s a Penelope in my eldest’s year at school.

I've got a (17yo) Iris Penelope - Penelope was my late mum's name. She's always had lots of compliments on her beautiful name. My little niece is also called Penelope but goes by Penny, it seems to be growing in popularity a bit at the moment.

Waste no more brain-time, and just go for it. It’s a lovely name for your beautiful girl.

A long first name with a double barreled last name is fine - two of my DCs have eight syllables between first and last names combined. If anything, I think it makes people take you more seriously.

I know a Penelope who gets called Poppy. My 50 yr old ex SiL has a doll from her childhood that she calls Penny Lope.

Not a massive fan of Penelope but Nell is amazing and Penelope is a name that someone could really make their own.

I can’t believe so many love Penelope , it’s awful . Iris on the other hand is lovely so I’d name her that .

Penelope Iris is fine. but will almost certainly be Penny.
PIHS isn't the best set of initials.
