Hello,

I am 29 weeks pregnant, with a baby boy. Looking for opinions on the following baby names, we have a few picked out we really like but struggling to decide between them.

Names on our list:
Edison
Hayes
Silas
Laurie
Benson

Well, not my taste.
I would say that Edison, Hayes and Benson are surnames, and I think that can cause confusion

I like Laurence nn Laurie

I know a girl called Laurie, so although I like the name that's throwing me off.

If i had to pick one it would be Hayes

Silas is by far my favourite:)

Laurie - I know a girl with the name so it feels feminine to me. Ok as short for Laurence.

Edison and Benson will just become Ed and Ben and will then have to repeatedly explain they’re not short for Edward or Benjamin

Hayes - not keen - sounds like Haze

I’d go with Laurie or Silas out of them choices

Benson feels a bit dated and Hayes is too surnamey for me. Laurie on its own will also only be seen as feminine. Edison and Silas are nice

Silas is the best
Laurie at a pinch but short for Laurence
ditch Edison, Hayes and Benson

I love Silas! I don't mind Edison but the rest aren't to my taste at all.

I only like Silas out of those. The others sound like surnames.

I have a 25 year old Laurence,he has an extremely amazing job working for a global company. All his colleagues and international colleagues call him Laurie.
He really has a fabulous name and it suits anyone from any background!!

Love Hayes, Silas, and Laurie. Laurie reminds me of the NBA player Lauri Markkanen, although I'm not sure how many other people would make that association. He's a good player if that means anything! Hayes is my favourite on your list, I know an adorable 1 year old boy with the name.

I like Edison more than Benson, and I don't actively dislike either but they aren't my favourites. I think of all the Ben- names I prefer Bennett the most, and of all the Ed- names it would be Edmund.

I like Laurie

I like Edison.

Not keen on any of the others.
I consider Laurie a girl's name.

Not my taste but benson as in Boone is a thumbs up from me for that particular hero of mine

i think that once you name your baby then whatever you choose is great. I don’t immediately like Silas but I bet if I met him I’d get to love the name. Cool cowboy vibes

any name you choose is to your taste and you will love it. And those who love you and baby will grow to love it too

I have a Laurie in my family too. He’s never been called anything else. Probably christened Lawrence but if so it’s never been used. And it’s great. Your Laurie sounds like a cool guy
