Tess (English) is a diminutive of Theresa, and Thera is said to be one also.

Thirza is the Hebrew version of Theresa.

Or you could go with the meaning of Theresa, originally Greek, meaning "to harvest".

Anona means "corn" or "grain" and is the name of the Roman goddess of harvest and grain.

There's a Welsh name, Medi, meaning "to harvest" but also "September" - often but not always given to girls born in that month.

MinistryofThyme · 27/03/2025 08:37

Theremin.

Can you not just name her Theresa? It’s a sweet name. There aren’t many actual names that begin with THER. Therina is the only other one that springs to mind and I have a feeling I made that up. You’d have more flexibility if you just went for TH or THE.

Galliano · 27/03/2025 08:37

I know a Marie Therese known day to day as Tessa

Ddakji · 27/03/2025 08:39

But Therese is pronounced with a hard T.

So you’re after a name that started with a T. Not THER, which is going to be virtually impossible.

Are you talking about St Therese of Lisieux? In which case, what about Flora, as she was known as the little flower of Jesus.

Needmorelego · 27/03/2025 08:41

I was going to suggest Tess or Tessa.

Zeitumschaltung · 27/03/2025 08:48

I’m not being entirely serious here, but there aren’t many names beginning with Ther.
St Theresa is associated with books, hearts, arrows, chess, the pious, sickness, headaches and lacemakers. So if you want a tenuously connected name and you won’t use any of the forms of Theresa:
Lacy
Paige
Story
Pia
Dolores

The name Theresa derives from the Greek for summer, so you could also consider Summer as a name.

AdaColeman · 27/03/2025 08:55

Saint Thérèse of Lisieux's name was Marie Françoise Thérèse, so perhaps use Marie or Francoise? She was also known as the 'little flower', so perhaps you could call her Fleur (French for flower) which is such a pretty name.

lyricalwindmills · 27/03/2025 08:57

Thermopalye
Therapiste
Thermomette

Peachy2005 · 27/03/2025 09:12

Thera is about the best option and rather nice and unusual.

Treasa is Irish for Teresa/therese - pronounced thrassa, if that’s any help.

Chuchoter · 27/03/2025 09:44

Thermidor.

Nickname 'Lobster'.

maw1681 · 27/03/2025 10:04

Thea is pretty

Whoarethoseguys · 27/03/2025 10:07

The only names I can think of that relate to Theresa that is not Therese are
Tess
Tessa
Terri
But they don't start Ther
I don't think any such names exist

maw1681 · 27/03/2025 10:11

Thera/Thira is a short form of Theresa

maw1681 · 27/03/2025 10:16

Thought of another- Thirza, which I guess you could spell Therza
